JUNE
The 16th annual Revival Fires Campmeeting will be June 24-26 at the Radisson Hotel Ballroom in Branson, MO. Speakers will include Mike Evans, Lt. Col. Chaplain Brian K. Waite, Cecil Todd (who founded Revival Fires Ministry in 1964 and continues to serve as president), Boyce Mouton, Gary Layman, Paul Vick, Liz Coker, and Johnny Minick. Featured singers will include The Good Twins, Johnny Minick and the River of Life Quartet, Lowell Mason, Duke Mason, J.D. Miller and the Praise Team, Gail (Todd) Stallman, and Art and Wanda Peace. There is no registration fee; admission is free to all services. Seating is limited, however, and people with tickets will be admitted first. Lipscomb University, Nashville, TN, will host its 28th annual Christian Scholars’ Conference, June 26-28. The theme—“The Christian Faith, Life of the Mind, and the Public Square”—will bring together scholars and practitioners to stimulate academic dialogue about the intersection of faith, academics, and the public square. Bill Frist, Jim Wallis, Steven V. Monsma, and Shaun Casey will address issues surrounding public policy, service, and faith. JULY
The North American Christian Convention is scheduled for July 1-4 at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati, OH. The theme is "Living Dangerously." Cam Huxford of Savannah (GA) Christian Church is this year's president. In addition to Huxford, main-session speakers will include Jon Weece of Southland Christian Church, Lexington, KY; Ajai Lall of Central India Christian Mission; Dr. Ralph Draper of the Spring Independent School District, Houston, TX; Ben Merold of Havester Christian Church, St. Charles, MO; and Jud Wilhite of Central Christian Church, Henderson, NV. The School of Missions at Lake James Christian Assembly, Angola, IN, will be held July 20-26, 2008. The 2008 World Convention of Churches of Christ will take place July 30--Aug. 3 at the Nashville (TN) Convention Center. This year's president is C. Robert Wetzel, president of Emmanuel School of Religion, Johnson City, TN. The convention is a gathering of members of Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ), a cappella Churches of Christ, and Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. It is held every four years. In addition to Wetzel, main-session speakers will include Cynthia Hale, founding pastor of Ray of Hope Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Decatur, GA; Bob Russell, retired longtime minister of Southeast Christian Church, Louisville, KY; and Mike Cope, co-editor of Wineskins magazine and preaching minister with Highland Church of Christ in Abilene, TX. JANUARY
The 2009 Florida Bible Conference will take place Jan. 12-16 at Lake Aurora Christian Camp and Retreat Center, 2337 Golden Bough Road, Lake Wales, FL 33898. It will open at 7 p.m. Jan. 12 with a “Big Gospel Sing” featuring Art Bush and the Allegiance Quartet, the Cornwell Twins, the Good Twins, Gene Fox, and others. Speakers Jan. 13-16 will include George Faull, Kerry Allen, Dick Marshall, John Meisenbach, Ken Gemeinhardt, Jim Chesser, Chuck Seevers, Carl Pascal, Jerry Bliffen, Chuck Hassell, Jim Smith, Charles McNeely, and Mark Clark. Other activities will include a golf tournament and morning Bible studies. The theme is “God’s Word for Today!” Lodging is available in dormitories and area motels. RV hook-ups are available at the camp and nearby. A $5 registration fee includes continental breakfast Jan. 14-16.
