College of the Scriptures, Louisville, KY, is planning to move in June. The historically black Bible college’s move will culminate a long period of prayers and planning that began after a representative of a railroad informed the college in November 2006 that it intended to take the school’s property by eminent domain. After lengthy negotiations, a purchase price was agreed upon (that was far less than the replacement value of the school’s campus). After looking at 20 properties in Louisville, the school decided to relocate to the former R.E. Jones United Methodist Church, 2330 Algonquin Parkway, West Louisville. The purchase is now in its final stages. Refurbishing is planned after the deal closes. Classes at the new location will begin in mid-August. In addition to the college, three congregations will share the facilities, the newest being Family Life Christian Church (Lee Alexander, evangelist), the youngest of four African-American, independent Christian church congregations in Louisville. At the final graduation and alumni meeting at the present campus (May 16 and 17), two time capsules will be opened.

Upcoming events hosted by Christian colleges are listed on our Calendar, accessible via our home page.
