Father”™s Day is Sunday, June 19: Leverage this special day to resource dads for their ministries to their families. Or announce the start of a new ministry with dads in mind. One such ministry resource is Manhood Journey (see article in this section).

Summer Solstice is Monday, June 20: This is the first day of summer. (Interesting fact: on this day the sun does not set at the North Pole.) Plan outdoor serving activities in your community to celebrate the beginning of summer and take full advantage of the longest day of the year.

Forgiveness Day is Sunday, June 26: Perhaps every day should be a day to forgive the people in our lives, but this one is actually listed as such on some calendars of bizarre, unique, and special holidays. Employ this day on your preaching or small group schedule to teach on the vitality of forgiveness in the Christian life. Encourage people to forgive or seek forgiveness today. Set aside a time before taking the Lord”™s Supper to focus on Matthew 6:14, 15 or James 5:15, 16.

When “Your All” Isn’t Enough

One of the great dangers of the modern church is that we have come to rely on our thinking, strength, wit, and skill and believe we can strategize, market, and promote our way out of the place in which we and our churches find ourselves.

The Power of Repetition

One of the most significant things I learned over the course of more than four decades of preaching in the local church is people don’t need to be taught something new as much as they need to be reminded of what they already know.

Solutions for Ministry Stress

The fear of the Lord leads to a life of holiness and obedience, while the comfort of the Holy Spirit brings peace and strength amid trials. These two spiritual qualities enable us to be all God wants us to be as we seek to live out Jesus’ mission.
