New Book for Wives of Elders (Plus News Briefs)

E2: effective elders recently released a new book for wives of elders. Not Just an Elder’s Wife—written by women, for women—offers “a unique collection of insights for a unique group of women to serve God in a dynamic and determined manner.” 

E2 will also host a conference just for the wives of elders from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 23, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at The Creek in Indianapolis. The speakers will be seasoned elders’ wives, and the event will offer fellowship, teaching, and encouragement. Registration ($25) includes worship, main sessions, multiple workshops, and meals.

Bainbridge (Ohio) Church of Christ recently purchased property adjacent to their existing church building. The property includes three lots and a commercial restaurant. Church leadership plans to convert the restaurant into a Community Outreach Center as an avenue to enhance their ministry and service to the surrounding communities, minister Dennis J. Wheeler reports.

The Beaufort (N.C.) Fire Department burned down the former home of Live Oak Grove Christian Church last month as a training exercise, Carolina Coast Online reported. The church, which dates to 1844, moved into their new church home in 2015.

A first-inning grand slam by Bailey Cantrell helped propel the Milligan University softball team to a 6-3 victory over the University of Rio Grande last week, advancing the Buffs to the NAIA Softball World Series for the first time in program history. Milligan improved its record to 32-7.

The 40th-annual 10-team, double-elimination World Series tournament begins Thursday in Columbus, Ga.
