David Vaughan plans to step down as senior minister with Whitewater Crossing Christian Church in Cleves, Ohio, on Aug. 1, 2022, and be succeeded by senior associate minister Jon Tisevich, the church’s elders announced on Sunday morning.
Vaughan endorsed his eventual successor in an announcement on WCCC’s Facebook, calling him “the right guy at the right time.” Vaughan lauded the younger Tisevich’s passion, hustle, and humility, saying, “I know that Jon Tisevich will take this church farther than I can and reach more lost people than I ever will.”
Vaughan has served with Whitewater Crossing for 19 years. When he arrived, the Cincinnati-area church was called Westwood-Cheviot Church of Christ and was averaging about 400.
“We have seen God do some unbelievable things through our ministry here,” Vaughan said. “We dreamed. We got healthy. We bought property. We too risks. We built a campus here on [Ohio] 128 where thousands of people found help and hope in Jesus. And I could not be more proud of a group of people than I am of you. The one constant along this journey of Whitewater has been the courageous faith and wisdom of our elders, and how God rewards faithful risk for him.”
Early last year, just prior to the pandemic, WCCC was averaging 2,200.
When his work with WCCC is completed, Vaughan said he and his wife, Donna, plan to coach other pastors and their wives across the country.

On July 1, Dr. Chad Ragsdale will become the sixth academic dean in Ozark Christian College’s 79-year history. Ragsdale will replace Doug Aldridge, who has served as dean since 2011.

R-Kay Willardson, senior minister at Common Ground Christian Church in Nettleton, Miss., and Ryan Christman, youth minister with Itawamba Christian Church in Fulton, Miss., were interviewed by the Daily Journal at the end of a soggy week spent with senior high students at Sonshine Christian Camp, just north of Baldwyn, Miss.
“The biggest joy in my life is seeing hearts change for Jesus,” said Willardson, 42. “That’s my million-dollar paycheck. I’ll probably never get rich in ministry, but the reward is rich when you see the light begin to come on for a kid.”
“I remember what I experienced at camp,” said Christman, 46, who served as dean for the week. “So many memorable moments—the friends, the lessons, the experiences, and the adults who were taking time out just to hang out with us. It spoke volumes to me. Now I get to share those same things with kids.”
“If I weren’t here,” said Willardson, “I’d be home thinking about what’s happening at camp.”

“At Milligan University, a unique partnership between the housekeeping staff and a freshmen engineering class produced a useful tool that helps protect the housekeeping staff in their important work,” the Council for Christian Colleges reported recently in the article “Campus Stories of Innovation,” which highlighted how institutions have been coping with COVID-19.
Students developed a small tool, which underwent several revisions, that the housekeeping staff uses to “safely open and shut doors and drawers, push elevator buttons, and flip light switches . . . reducing the amount of direct contact they had with high-touch surfaces while cleaning.”

Christ’s Church in Bowling Green (Ohio) will host “CAR-NIVAL,” a car, truck, and motorcycle show—along with several other attractions (music, food, games, and door prizes)—from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 10. Money raised will be used to serve the community during the church’s “Mission to Bowling Green” July 26-20.
