The 2022 National Preaching Summit is less than one month away. “Preaching in Season and Out of Season” (from 2 Timothy 4:2) will be the theme of the gathering slated for March 7-8 at The Creek in Indianapolis.

Organizers say the summit is where “preachers of all ages and levels of experience gather to learn and share ways to communicate the Scriptures more effectively.” The summit includes mentoring and fellowship, training and communication workshops, and time and space to rest, recharge, and be spiritually fed.

Speakers will include Mark Scott, Caleb Kaltenbach, Jerry Taylor, and Aaron Brockett. Workshop leaders will include Rob O’Lynn, Jason Poznich, Casey Scott, Gary Johnson, and Jodi Owens.

It was a historic afternoon Saturday as the Great Lakes Christian College Crusaders men’s basketball team defeated the Bryn Athyn (Pa.) College Lions, 90-85. Why historic? Because GLCC head coach Richard Westerlund’s squad bested Seth Westerlund’s team in the first-ever college basketball match-up pitting twin brothers coaching against each other.

Their mother, Sylvia, wasn’t looking forward to the contest.

“We had a rule in the house, they could not compete against each other,” she told Leon Thomas on First Impressions Sports Talk. When they did—such as when they played one-on-one basketball—things tended to get out of hand. The brothers also spoke with Thomas in the run-up to the game.

With the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics underway, “the Communist government of China is presenting a warm and smiling face to the rest of the world,” according to the Voice of the Martyrs. Unfortunately, many of our Christian brothers and sisters in China “have seen their church buildings destroyed, are constantly watched by their government and know they could be arrested for gathering for worship.”

VOM encourages Christians around the world to use the Beijing Olympics “as a daily reminder to pray for our Christian family members in China.”

China’s government is surely hoping for a propaganda victory in hosting the games, VOM says, but that nation’s persecution of Christians—who are seen as threats to Communism and to China’s leaders—should not be lost in the pageantry of the Olympics.

VOM is seeking commitments to pray daily throughout the Olympics and is offering five prayer suggestions at its website.
