Heartland Christian Church, Goshen, Ohio, is helping with recovery efforts after a tornado swept through the community east of Cincinnati last Wednesday. The church was a distribution point for food, water, and other items on Saturday. Heartland also is collecting money for food, housing, and medical needs via its giving platform.

A 20-year member of RiverTree Christian Church is exhibiting his Christocentric abstract artwork through July 24 at the Patina Arts Center in Canton, Ohio.
Tom Wachunas uses everything from paint to graphite to fabric to create his “mixed-media-assemblages” according to a feature article in the Canton Repository. The show is titled “Signs and Wonderings—A Disciple’s Journey.”
Wachunas was raised Catholic but likens his story to that of the prodigal son in Luke.
“I don’t intend these pieces to preach or teach outright,” he told the newspaper. “My hope is that they plant questions, and keep people arrested enough to at least look. . . . If people walk away with more questions about God and Jesus, that for me is significant.”

The Sew to Sow ministry at First Christian Church in Kernersville, N.C., was featured in an article and video at Spectrum News recently. The ministry—started nine years ago by Sandra Ward after a mission trip to Ethiopia—has given out more than 37,000 outfits around the world. Since the start of the pandemic, Sew to Sow has also started helping kids who need food and clothing in the Kernersville area. (We featured Sew to Sow in a Horizons article from 2017.)
