The Canton Christian Home has been sold to The Solomon Foundation, a church extension fund, which is leasing the complex back to the retirement facility so it can continue operating as before, but at a significant cost savings, the Canton (Ohio) Repository reported.

CCH effectively has replaced a large mortgage payment with a smaller rental fee, said Robert Nickoson, president of the retirement facility’s board. “Our payment is about a third of what it was before,” he told the newspaper.

CCH has 75 certified beds, according to Medicare, along with apartments, assisted living, and short-term rehabilitation, the Repository reported.

A report titled “Faith after the Pandemic” from the Survey Center on American Life reported that one-third of Americans never attend church.

“The number of Americans who became completely disconnected from a place of worship increased significantly over the past few years,” the report stated. “Before the pandemic, one in four Americans [25 percent] reported that they never attended religious services. By spring 2022, that share increased to 33 percent.”

Though Errett’s suggestions are nearly 150 years old (originally published on January 2, 1875), we believe his comments are just as valuable today as they were when they were first published.
