Tri-Cities School of Preaching & Christian Development โ Organization Profile
Tri-Cities School of Preaching & Christian Development (TCSOP&CD) is a church-supported ministry training school based in Elizabethton, Tennessee, operating under the oversight of the Stoney Creek Church of Christ. Established in August 2001, the school exists to address what it identifies as a widespread need for stronger Bible knowledge and to help develop workers who can teach Scripture faithfully in local congregations and evangelistic settings.
The core emphasis at Tri-Cities is training men to preach while also equipping Christians who want deeper Bible understanding for teaching, leadership, and service. The school describes its work as preparing โmen of the Book,โ with instruction intended to strengthen biblical literacy, sound doctrine, and effective communication of the gospel. In addition to classroom study, students are given opportunities to build practical ministry skills through preaching development, writing, and structured outreach.
Tri-Cities offers a Two-Year Bible Emphasis designed for intensive study, along with a Third Year Apologetics option for students who want additional training in defending the faith and addressing common doctrinal challenges. Beyond residential participation, the school provides free distance-learning courses through an online course catalog, enabling students and church members to enroll and learn without relocating.
A distinctive feature of the program is its media and communication component. Training includes practicing written and digital evangelism, supported by the schoolโs H.W. Simons Production Studios, where students can gain experience connected with teaching media. The school also maintains public-facing teaching content and media initiatives that extend learning beyond the campus setting.
Tri-Cities hosts an annual Lectureship held on the first full week of April, featuring lessons built around a theme and delivered by students, alumni, and invited speakers. The schoolโs broader teaching outreach includes Arise to Truth Radio, a live call-in Bible program produced from the schoolโs facilities and aired Tuesdays and Thursdays (2:00โ3:00 PM Eastern). Together, these efforts reflect a strategy of combining structured training with ongoing encouragement and resources for churches and individuals.
People can engage with Tri-Cities by applying to the program, enrolling in free online courses, attending the Lectureship, and supporting students and school operations through giving. Churches can partner by recommending prospective students, providing speaking opportunities, and helping supply practical needs that support those in training.
