World Bible School (WBS) — Organization Profile
World Bible School (WBS) is a nonprofit evangelism and discipleship ministry that helps everyday Christians share Jesus through interactive Bible studies. WBS describes its mission as “to share Jesus with the world by motivating and equipping a global network of Christians to use interactive Bible studies effectively.” Its tools are built to connect truth-seekers with volunteer “Study Helpers” who encourage, guide, and walk with students through Scripture.
WBS offers multiple pathways for study and teaching. Traditional Postal lessons allow one-on-one correspondence teaching through the mail, while WBS also supports Online lessons through its web and app platforms. WBS emphasizes that these approaches can be used by individuals or congregations as practical ways to participate in Great Commission outreach and to build relationships that lead to local connections and further discipleship.
A distinctive part of WBS’s international teaching strategy is Ocean Bridge, a system designed to teach international students without relying on unreliable postal systems. Ocean Bridge uses scanning and service-center support to speed up lesson exchange and increase follow-through for printed-lesson students in targeted regions. WBS also promotes Mathetis, a group-based platform designed for studying Bible courses together online, helping churches and small groups create shared learning environments.
WBS supports churches with additional evangelism resources and stories that encourage ongoing outreach. The ministry publishes ACTION!, described as its flagship publication, sharing updates, tips, and testimonies connected to WBS tools and global impact. WBS also points users to a digital library and other resources intended to strengthen Bible teaching, personal study, and congregational evangelism planning.
Leadership communication and updates are part of how WBS keeps its network connected. WBS publishes regular “President’s Update” communications from its president, Brian Rex Davis, and highlights ongoing efforts to expand tools, translations, and international partnerships. WBS also provides clear “how to start” onramps for churches and individuals who want to begin teaching—whether through postal correspondence, online study, or Ocean Bridge.
World Bible School is based in Cedar Park, Texas, and serves a global network of churches and volunteer Study Helpers who connect with Bible students in many countries. People can engage with WBS by enrolling as a student, applying to become a Study Helper, starting a church-based teaching effort, using Ocean Bridge or Mathetis for group study, and supporting the ministry through giving.
