Pat Gelsinger, whose association with William Jessup University, Rocklin, Calif., goes back many years, recently was named “Best CEO in America.” Bloomberg reported that Gelsinger, chief executive officer of Silicon Valley software maker VMware Inc., was ranked the top boss in employment website Glassdoor’s annual survey.
A brief article at Jessup.com describes Gelsinger as “a longtime partner, supporter and friend.” Gelsinger previously served on Jessup’s board of trustees, and in 2008, Jessup awarded him an honorary doctorate of letters.
A story in Business Insider from 2015 says Gelsinger and his wife give away about half of their income, the bulk of that to Christian endeavors.

News Briefs
WellSpring Christian Church, Spring Hill, Tenn., broke ground on a building project June 19 that will add classrooms, a new lobby, and a larger auditorium to the church’s existing facility. Simultaneously, WellSpring will be launching a new campus in nearby Columbia, Tenn.
The church’s “Trusting the Promise” initiative of prayer and sacrificial giving will last until the end of 2020. The church is working with Christian Financial Resources on the project.

Abilene Christian University received a $103,000 grant this spring from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities to digitize 30 outstanding books of scholarship that are now out of print and make them available, for free, in digital formats. The ACU Library and ACU Press will partner with the Disciples of Christ Historical Society to make the books available.
“We have organized a team of scholars who will review titles previously published by both of our organizations,” said Jason Fikes, director of ACU Press.” This advisory group will make recommendations of which books to digitize.”
