GLCC Presidential Search Committee Formed (Plus News Briefs)

by | 30 June, 2021 | 0 comments

The board of trustees of Great Lakes Christian College has formed a presidential search committee to begin the process of selecting the school’s next president.

In early February, Larry Carter announced he had informed the board he intended to retire as president of the institution on June 30, 2022, after 22 years of service.

At that time, Carter wrote, “I have so appreciated the opportunity to lead our college and to see many students leave our campus to be servant leaders in the church and world. . . . It has been my pleasure to have worked with some incredible people who have joined in the work of preparing the next generation of Christian leaders.”

The search committee is being headed by William “Duke” Gray, chairman of the board of trustees.

“The members of the presidential search committee ask for your prayers as we begin this time of change for the Great Lakes Christian College community,” the committee wrote.

News Briefs

Leaders at Fern Creek Christian Church, Louisville, Ky., shared a vision with the congregation recently to raise $15,000 to purchase and install a Safe Haven Baby Box at the Fern Creek Fire Department, WDRB.com reported. The baby boxes provide a secure and legal way for a mother in crisis to anonymously surrender a newborn.

A couple of weeks later, lead minister Craig Grammer said, an incredible $54,000 offering was received on a Sunday.

“When we announced that total, people were shouting and hugging and crying,” Grammer told WDRB. “You would have thought we won $1 million.”

The church is boosting the donation to $60,000, enough to purchase four baby boxes.

Celebrate Recovery, a ministry that aims to help “anyone with a hurt, hang-up or habit,” was featured in an article last week in the Pikes Peak Courier.

“Jesus talked about how you recognize a tree by its fruit, and our CR ministry has produced bushels of healthy and flourishing fruit over the years. Changed lives, restored marriages and renewed families,” said Scott Park, lead pastor at Impact Christian Church in Woodland Park, Colo. “I love the smiles and healing that I have seen over the years through our Celebrate Recovery. I love CR and what Jesus does through it.”
