The inaugural ChurchOS Conference will take place Feb. 1-2 at the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Campus of Christ’s Church of the Valley. The conference is for senior pastors, executive pastors, church planters, department leaders, elders . . . any leader, really, who wants to carry out the Great Commission more effectively and consistently.
The event is being developed by Intentional Churches, co-founded by Bart Rendel and Doug Parks, authors of the book Intentional Churches. The conference is designed to deepen the understanding, use, and implementation of their ChurchOS strategic leadership method for making more and better disciples. Over the past eight years, according to Rendel and Parks, hundreds of churches have installed ChurchOS, and it is helping to revitalize stuck churches, fuel growth in growing churches, and aid in healthier church plants.
Conference speakers will include Garry Poole, Mike Hickerson, and Ron Sylvia. There will be main sessions, customized tracks (ranging from “Foundations”—for leaders just learning about ChurchOS—to “Advanced”), and collaborative elements.

Bridges Christian Church in Russell, Ky., is celebrating their 100th anniversary this year.
Executive pastor Kevin Fraley told the Daily Independent the church first met in a theater in 1921 (“They were trendsetters”), while senior pastor Tom Lawson said the first floor of the church is currently undergoing renovation for their children’s ministry.

“Preaching in Season and Out of Season” will be the theme of the National Preaching Summit slated for March 7-8 at The Creek in Indianapolis.
Organizers say the summit is where “preachers of all ages and levels of experience gather to learn and share ways to communicate the Scriptures more effectively.” The summit includes mentoring and fellowship, training and communication workshops, and time and space to rest, recharge, and be spiritually fed.
Speakers will include Mark Scott, Caleb Kaltenbach, Jerry Taylor, and Aaron Brockett. Workshop leaders will include Rob O’Lynn, Jason Poznich, Casey Scott, and Jodi Owens.

Hope International University has received final approval to offer its first-ever doctoral degree program: Doctor of Marriage & Family Therapy. The program, offered through the Fullerton, Calif., school’s College of Psychology & Counseling, will debut with its initial student cohort early this year.

A team of 19 from Impact Christian Church in Woodland Park, Colo., traveled to Juarez, Mexico, recently to build a home for a family of four. The Pikes Peak Courier reported on the trip last week, while also sharing a short profile of the church.
“Love is a verb more than an emotion,” lead pastor Scott Park told the newspaper. “We seek to love through action as best we can because of the ultimate loving action of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.”
