The work of speed painter Cody Sabol—an alum of Kentucky Christian University—was featured on ESPN’s Monday Night Football telecast last week. In just minutes, the Pittsburgh native painted a large face and helmet image of Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers’ quarterback who was playing in what most likely was his final home game at Heinz Field. That night, Roethlisberger, an 18-year veteran, led his team to a 26-14 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Hope International University president Paul Alexander and Christ’s Church of the Valley (Arizona) teaching pastor Mark E. Moore have been guests recently on Steve Carter’s podcast, “The Thing Beneath the Thing.” The conversation with Alexander centered on the importance of soul care in ministry, while Moore discussed his book Quest 52, a follow-up to Core 52. Carter is an HIU alum who formerly served as teaching pastor with Willow Creek Community Church.

Financial Planning Ministry, a leader in nonprofit planned giving, promoted Dave Hess and Jay Fellows to senior leadership positions on Jan. 1.

Hess assumed the role of vice president of consultant development, while Fellows became vice president of partner development. Hess joined FPM in 2013, while Fellows joined the organization in 2017.

FPM, based in Irvine, Calif., is a nonprofit partnership of national charities dedicated to providing a path to sound biblical stewardship through donor estate planning.

Milligan University student-athlete Megan Jastrab, who won a bronze medal in the Women’s Team Pursuit last summer as part of the U.S. Women’s Cycling team at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, was featured in Milligan’s magazine late last year. 

“Everyone’s like, ‘You’ve traveled to all these countries. Where’s your favorite place to ride?’” the Apple Valley, Calif., native told the magazine. “It’s Johnson City, Tennessee. I love riding here; it’s gorgeous. You can get out and be on the back roads for hours.”

Historic Canton, Ohio, Church to Open New Campus

After two years of strong growth, First Christian Church in Canton, Ohio, is expanding. The historic church—once led by P. H. Welshimer—hopes to open its first campus location this fall. The church in November spent $2.1 million on a 33,000-square-foot building on 5 acres on the southwest side of Canton. . . .
