This week, more than 1,000 leaders from our Restoration Movement tribe gathered in Orlando, Fla., for the fourth-annual SpireConference. Of course, this was not the only thing occurring in Florida this week. Hurricane Ian made landfall in southwest Florida at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, on Day Two of Spire’s scheduled three-day gathering. . . .

1990 NACC President Richard D. Hogan Dies

Dr. Richard D. Hogan, 88, died Tuesday in Bella Vista, Ark. He was a longtime minister with First Christian Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and then with NewLife Christian Church in Bella Vista, Ark. He served as president of the 1990 North American Christian Convention and was a longtime member of the Publishing Committee at Standard Publishing.

‘Beard Off’ Aims to Raise $50,000 for GLCC Scholarships

More than a dozen men are effectively auctioning away their whiskers to raise scholarship monies for Great Lakes Christian College. “Beard Off” participants include president Frank Weller, GLCC trustee Duke Gray; VP Greg Stauffer; Richard Westerlund, athletic director and men’s basketball coach; and alum/preacher CJ Powell, among others. Contribute funds for participants to either “Shave” or “Keep” their beards.

When Henry Holub moved to Spokane, Wash., in early 2020 to minister with Northside Church of Christ, a noninstrumental church, one of his first orders of business was to meet with Troy Burns, pastor of Sunrise Church of Christ, an independent Christian church. That meeting has led to a growing partnership between their churches that transcends their differences.
