First Christian Church of Tempe is seeking a full-time Worship Leader & Youth Pastor to provide leadership, vision, and development for its worship and student ministries. Reporting to the Senior Pastor, this position combines congregational worship leadership with discipleship, teaching, volunteer development, and pastoral care for middle and high school students.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Planning and leading Sunday worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor.
- Selecting theologically sound and engaging worship music.
- Leading weekly praise-team rehearsals and cultivating excellence, community, and spiritual growth.
- Recruiting, auditioning, training, and developing musicians and vocalists.
- Working with audio-visual volunteers and helping design and implement technical improvements.
- Planning and leading weekly youth meetings, Bible studies, and age-appropriate lessons.
- Building Christ-centered relationships with students through mentoring, counseling, and participation in their lives.
- Organizing retreats, camps, service projects, mission trips, and worship opportunities for students.
- Recruiting, training, and supporting youth ministry volunteers.
- Partnering with parents and integrating students into the broader life of the church.
- Managing worship and youth ministry budgets and participating in staff meetings.
Expectations and qualifications include:
- A mature, growing, Spirit-filled Christian faith and a deep love for God and people.
- One to three years of church-based youth ministry and/or worship leadership experience.
- Strong vocal ability and proficiency in leading worship with guitar or piano.
- The ability to connect with, mentor, and provide pastoral care for teenagers.
- Strong organizational, leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with contemporary worship music and tools such as Planning Center, Proclaim, and MultiTracks.
- A bachelor’s degree in music, worship arts, biblical studies, or a related field is preferred.
This position requires approximately 40–45 hours per week. Total compensation is $63,000–$65,000 and includes salary, housing allowance, insurance and retirement stipends, and two weeks of paid vacation.
