Sewing Seams of Hope is the mission sewing ministry of First Christian Church in Brazil, Indiana. Formerly known as the FCC Sewing Ministry, it began in 2000 after church members learned at the National Missionary Convention, now the International Conference on Missions, of the need for cloth diapers at the birthing center of Northwest Haiti Christian Mission. Since then, the ministry has grown into a practical sewing outreach that creates handmade items for children, families, and mission partners around the world.
The ministry is based in Brazil, Indiana, and ships completed items to mission partners serving in Haiti, Africa, India, Asia, South America, the Philippines, Central America, Honduras, Uganda, Nicaragua, Ukraine, Kenya, and other locations. Its work is carried out through volunteers who gather at First Christian Church and through supporters who sew from other locations using patterns and instructions provided by the ministry.
Sewing Seams of Hope’s primary projects include cloth diapers, dresses, britches for boys, baby hats, and toddler bibs. The diaper ministry remains a central focus, with volunteers sewing large quantities of flannel diapers for mission use. The dress ministry includes “pillowcase” and darling-style dresses made from donated fabric, sheets, pillowcases, scrub tops, trim, lace, buttons, and other materials. The ministry also makes boys’ britches and repurposes T-shirt sleeves and neck areas into hats and bibs.
The organization operates with a simple, volunteer-driven process. Volunteers meet for scheduled sewing dates at First Christian Church, and the website provides downloadable patterns so others can participate from home, churches, or sewing groups. Completed items may be shipped to the ministry, which then helps distribute them through mission partners. This model allows people with sewing skills, donated fabric, or a willingness to learn to take part in hands-on mission service.
Sewing Seams of Hope also serves as a connector between local churches, sewing groups, and global ministries. Its annual results pages document shipments to partners such as Haiti House of Hope, the Miriam Center in Haiti, His Eyes in Honduras, Ray of Hope in Uganda, Joey Potter Missions, Sew to Sow, Lenna’s Ladybugs, Living By Grace & Faith Ministries in the Philippines, and other mission-connected groups. These records show a ministry shaped by consistent, practical support for missionaries and ministries serving children and families.
People can engage with Sewing Seams of Hope by attending sewing dates, donating fabric or supplies, sending completed projects, making financial gifts through First Christian Church, using the downloadable patterns, or sharing the ministry with churches and sewing groups. Its distinct contribution is turning sewing, donated materials, and volunteer time into practical mission supplies for children and families served by Christian ministries worldwide.

Hisportic Global Christian Mission, also known as HCM or Hisportic Christian Mission, is a Christian church-planting and leadership-development ministry with contact operations in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Founded in 1984, the organization exists to multiply Christ-followers among Portuguese-speaking peoples worldwide. Its public theme, “One Language. One Gospel.” reflects its focus on sharing Christ in the heart language of Portuguese-speaking communities.
The organization’s core focus is planting churches, training leaders, developing disciples, supporting Christian education, and encouraging sustainable ministry among Portuguese-speaking peoples. HCM began as a calling to reach Brazilian and Portuguese communities in New England and has expanded into a global ministry serving across the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Its work is built around local believers, national pastors, and ministry leaders who can disciple people within their own language and culture.
Hisportic Global Christian Mission serves the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Europe, with current work publicly identified in the United States, Brazil, Guinea-Bissau, Goa in India, Timor-Leste, and Portugal. In the United States, HCM partners with Portuguese-speaking congregations and pastors in states such as Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, and Tennessee. In Guinea-Bissau, the mission supports churches, schools, teacher training, leadership development, and plans for the Institute of Development and Evangelism.
The ministry operates through five connected areas: church planting, leadership training, entrepreneurship, in-country service, and education. HCM partners with local believers to form Christ-centered churches that become centers for worship, discipleship, and outreach. It also invests in pastoral and lay training so leaders can guide churches with biblical knowledge, spiritual maturity, and practical ministry skills. Its education work includes Christian schools that provide learning shaped by a biblical worldview.
A distinctive part of HCM’s strategy is using the Portuguese language as a bridge across cultures and continents. Portuguese connects communities in places such as Brazil, Guinea-Bissau, Goa, Timor-Leste, Portugal, and immigrant communities in the United States. Through that shared language, HCM seeks to connect hearts, cultures, and generations with the gospel while strengthening local churches and developing future leaders.
People can engage with Hisportic Global Christian Mission by praying, giving, joining short-term mission opportunities, exploring long-term service, or contacting the ministry about partnership. Short-term teams may serve through construction, education, children’s outreach, community projects, and encouragement for national pastors. Long-term opportunities focus on church establishment, disciple making, education, community development, and Business-as-Mission initiatives among Portuguese-speaking communities.

Central Brazil Mission (CBM) is a Christian mission organization connected with Project Amazonas: Christ, Life and Health. The ministry was developed through the long-term missionary work of Earl and Ruth Anne Haubner, who began serving in Brazil in 1969. CBM’s public materials describe a ministry focused on sharing Christ while meeting medical, dental, nutritional, leadership, and community needs among people in Brazil’s Amazon region.
The mission serves communities in Brazil, with special focus on the State of Amazonas, Manaus, São Sebastião, remote Amazon River villages, and communities accessible primarily by boat. CBM’s work also has roots in Goiânia, Brazil, where the Haubners’ earlier church planting and leadership training work helped develop Brazilian leaders for local churches and Amazon ministry. The organization’s U.S. forwarding address is listed in Springfield, Ohio.
CBM operates through what it calls Project Amazonas: Christ, Life and Health. Its Amazon ministry is organized around several major areas, including medical boat ministry, nutrition work, children’s soccer outreach, construction projects, leadership training, and church planting. The organization states that its medical boat ministry allows teams to reach villages that otherwise have little access to regular medical or dental care. Visits often include medical treatment, dental care, vitamins, eye care, worship gatherings, and follow-up relationships with local leaders.
A central distinctive of CBM is its use of boat-based ministry to serve remote Amazon communities while training and supporting Brazilian Christian leaders. The mission explains that Project Amazonas depends on short-term mission teams from the United States for funding, supplies, and manpower, while the village missionaries and Amazon-region program leaders are Brazilians trained through Central Brazil Mission. This structure allows the work to combine outside support with local leadership and long-term presence.
CBM’s ministry also includes construction support for church buildings and houses for Brazilian missionaries in remote villages. Its nutrition work has included greenhouse projects designed to help improve diet and provide local income opportunities, while its children’s soccer outreach seeks to build character and evangelize through Brazil’s strong soccer culture. The organization has also described an aviation vision intended to reduce travel time, reach distant communities, support pastors and missionaries, transport medical workers, and assist in emergency situations.
People can engage with Central Brazil Mission by praying for the Amazon team, supporting the mission financially, donating needed medical supplies, joining a short-term Amazon boat trip, connecting with the mission about future trip dates, or contacting Earl Haubner or Michael Haubner directly. CBM lists scheduled and planned boat trips years in advance and invites churches, individuals, medical workers, dental workers, and other volunteers to participate in the work of serving remote communities along the Amazon and its tributaries.
