Nexus: Church Planting & Leader Care — Organization Profile
Nexus: Church Planting & Leader Care is a U.S.-focused church-planting organization that comes alongside pastors, couples, and teams as they pursue the calling to launch new faith communities. Based in McKinney, Texas, Nexus describes its role as a “nexus”—a point of connection—linking church planters with coaching, training, and supportive partners so they can plant in healthy and sustainable ways.
The organization’s mission centers on multiplying disciple-making communities across North America by helping leaders plant churches and by providing ongoing care for the people doing that work. Nexus emphasizes long-term leader care as a distinctive, aiming to strengthen both ministry outcomes and the personal, spiritual, and relational health of those leading from the front lines of a church plant.
Nexus serves prospective planters, active planters, and church-planting network leaders across the United States. Their approach is structured around a pathway that includes assessment, training, coaching, mentoring, and community. The Nexus Assessment Center is designed to help pastors and leaders determine readiness to plant. From there, the Church Planter Pathway and related trainings focus on practical preparation for launching and leading a life-giving, multiplying church, while coaching and mentoring provide a steady voice and accountability as leaders navigate the realities of planting.
In addition to core pathway services, Nexus offers cohorts and communities designed to support leaders over time. The Nexus Leadership Institute is a two-year cohort developed with local-church partnership to mentor and equip emerging leaders for long-term ministry. The Bonhoeffer Project is a virtual cohort intended to help participants craft an intentional disciple-making plan for their local context. For church-planting wives, Untangled is a dedicated community aimed at connection, encouragement, and growth through shared challenges and support.
People can engage with Nexus in several ways. Church planters and network leaders can inquire about assessment, training, coaching, and partnership opportunities. Supporters can participate through prayer gatherings, events such as ThinkNEXT, and financial giving to support the work of launching and caring for leaders. Nexus also publishes resources through its blog and webinars, and it hosts the Nexus Church Planting Podcast to share disciple-making and leadership conversations that encourage and equip pastors and planters.
