Church Building the New Testament Way

By Doug Lucas Suppose the Restoration Movement churches (Christian churches and churches of Christ) want to restore the New Testament practice of constructing or buying church buildings. What would it look like? Easy answer. To my knowledge, throughout all the New Testament, there”s not a single example of constructing or buying a building. The book of Acts records exponential church growth without buildings. And, according to Matthew 28:19, 20, our core mandate is to make disciples who will make disciples””not build buildings. By John W. Samples About 200 years ago an immigrant to the United States was asking a lot of questions about his denomination”s traditional church doctrine. He was challenging those beliefs in ways that would shape the face of the religious experience for millions of people. Thomas Campbell went on to write some of the earliest works later identified with the Restoration Movement, and his son, Alexander, built on those foundations through independent partnerships with other leaders such as Barton W. Stone. About two decades ago, an Arab preacher living in northern Israel began asking some of the same kinds
