Coroners sometimes perform a post-mortem to determine the cause of death. It might be wise to conduct our own “pre-mortems” to make sure death doesn’t catch us unprepared. Only Christ Jesus can keep us secure when we arrive at life’s final deadline.

REMEMBER THE DAYS

Whatever memories the days of our walk with the Lord have provided, we should always remember that they have come only because of the three days we remember especially during Communion.

Empty

On the third day after he suffered and died, Jesus vacated that place of death and he will never return. We continue our worship with a picture of the promise God has in store for every believer.

Our Opening Day

It may renew and encourage us when we take Communion to think back to the day of our baptism into Christ, when we came forth from our own tomb and our own record of sins was wiped clean.

Two Days, Two Outcomes

Easter and Christmas are the two most recognized Christian holidays. Consider the different outcomes of Christmas and Easter by reflecting on how Jesus “came out” of, first, the womb of Mary at his birth; and second, the tomb at his resurrection.

Forgive Us Our Debts

Do we seek God’s forgiveness—both for sins we have willfully committed and for hidden faults that are hard for us to see? And do we extend forgiveness to others, whether they intentionally did something wrong or they sinned without even realizing it?
