Downloadable Resources You May Not Know About

Christian Standard

By Mark A. Taylor

Communication is always a challenging goal. So I guess I shouldn”t have been too surprised when Christian Standard”s contributing editors suggested we offer something we”ve had available for several months.

I”m speaking of the downloadable digital version of our popular booklet, What Kind of Church Is This?

This eight-page “minimagazine” has existed in a couple of different versions for many years. Churches have bought hundreds of thousands of copies to use with visitors and new members. It explains to them the unique place of Christian churches and churches of Christ in the religious world. It gives a brief layman”s history of the Restoration Movement and spells out our commitment to following Bible doctrine and precedent in every area of church life. Featured authors include LeRoy Lawson, Ralph K. Bennett Jr., and Paul Williams.

The printed piece is available at 30 cents each in multiples of 100 (available at www.christianstandardmedia.com). In a day when greeting cards regularly go for $5.00 or more, it”s truly a bargain.

And the downloadable version is an even better deal. Every page of our printed version is included in this digital version, and for only $9.99 you can download it to use however you”d like: Post it on your Web site. Duplicate and distribute printed copies. E-mail it to prospects or inquirers.

But you may not have known it”s available. We figure that”s true because even our contributing editors hadn”t heard about it. When we asked them for opinions about improving this popular resource, the one they mentioned most often was, “Offer a digital version.”

Like I say, communication is an elusive goal. And when I fail to communicate, the only productive course is for me to take responsibility.

So that”s what I”m doing as I invite you to see why so many are using What Kind of Church Is This?

Can”t decide which version is best for you? You might consider using both. Place the printed version in your lobby for browsers and take it along when you call on visitors. Post the digital version on your Web site where people you don”t even know can find it.

While you”re at it, you might go to the whole page of downloadable resources from Christian Standard and The Lookout available online*. If history is any predictor, I”m guessing you”ll find at least one valuable tool there you didn”t know was available!
