At First Christian Church, we support missions directly connected with churches of Christ and Christian churches that also value the Restoration Movement plea. The money designated for missions is allocated in three specific areas of ministry. One portion goes directly to Timothys sent from this church who are still directly connected to this church family. We are blessed to have Timothys in South Sudan and Japan, as well as a team preparing to minister in Jordan. A second portion goes to missions directly involved in church planting, discipleship making, and local church leadership training. The third portion is for missions that may not directly fit into the first two categories, but which operate effectively as New Testament ministries, such as our church camp and local Bible college.

Each year FCC has a missions emphasis month. In February we challenged the church body to designate monies each week for world and domestic missions giving. In 2013 the church gave more than $171,000 to missions. Over the last 38 years, the church has given more than $4 million to missionary work.

Our missions team meets bimonthly to review procedures, missions reports, and questionnaires the church sends to the various mission groups we support.

FCC is very involved in helping build and plant churches, including a church planting partnership in Poland and yearly trips to Haiti and Mexico to work with the churches and build others.

Each year we partner with faculty from Johnson University Florida and members of our church to work with Mauricio Missions in Mexico. We also raise money every other year to help Haitian Christian Mission with church construction. Our student minister also takes students to Haiti each year to work summer VBS programs with local churches.

Jim Book serves as senior minister of First Christian Church in Kissimmee, Florida.
