Caroline Worley, who served in many roles with Dallas Christian College through the years, died Oct. 26. She most recently had been serving as chair of the college’s education department.
Her passing follows the death of her husband, Mark Worley, on Aug. 24. He served more than 40 years with DCC, most recently as vice president of advancement. He also was the No. 1 fan for DCC athletics.
The Worleys were married 48 years.
“Caroline and Mark also leave a legacy through their three children, Kyle, Zach, and Aimee, all of whom are DCC alumni, and who are honoring that legacy by raising their children in the faith and serving Christ in various areas of ministry,” according to a DCC Facebook post.
A remembrance service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Compass Christian Church in Colleyville, Texas.

Lincoln (Ill.) Christian University recently honored two godly servants and alums.
LCU’s Advancement and Alumni office presented Gary Black with a Lifetime Christian Service Award.
Black recently retired after three decades leading Clayton (Ind.) Christian Church. Previously, he served in youth ministry at Chapel Rock Christian Church in Indianapolis. He graduated from Lincoln Christian College in 1971 and Lincoln Christian Seminary in 1977.
“Gary has always been a minister I look up to and respect,” David Upchurch, LCU’s director of church ministries, said when presenting the award. “He has been a great example of how to love God, love people, and be faithful in ministry.”
LCU presented Bret Hammond with its Restoration Award for Church Leadership/Preaching. Hammond has served with Kansas (Ill.) Christian Church for 20 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in preaching ministry in 1989, a master’s degree in Bible & theology in 2019, and is currently a student in the Doctor of Ministry program.
“Bret has been a great friend to LCU and a faithful servant of Christ and leader of Kansas Christian Church,” noted Brady Cremeens, LCU’s VP of advancement and alumni. “We’re proud of what you’ve accomplished for God’s glory.”
The Restoration Award recognizes Lincoln Christian alumni for their contributions to kingdom work.

A highlight of Milligan University’s recent Homecoming was the naming of a bridge at the entry to campus for Duard Walker, whose long association with Milligan goes back to when he trained there as part of the Navy V12 officer training program during World War II. After service in the South Pacific, he returned to campus as a student, setting a record for most varsity letters earned. He graduated in 1948. He returned in 1951 and began 50 years of service to the school as a professor, a head resident of a residence hall, dean of men, and coach of five different sports.
An excellent article in the Johnson City Press states, “His words are etched into the hallway of Milligan’s Steve Lacy Fieldhouse: ‘Win with dignity, lose with grace.’”

The Great Lakes Christian College women’s soccer team defeated Grace Christian College 3-2 last week in the Mideast Region Championship game. The defending national champions will next play in the NCCAA DII National Tournament slated for Nov. 17-19 in Kissimmee, Fla. We featured the Crusaders’ squad and coach Sam Sibilski in a recent article. Sibilski was honored as coach of the year for the region, while Randi Fitzgerald earned honors as player of the year.

Lord’s Acre Day at Powell Butte (Ore.) Christian Church started in 1947 as a fundraiser to construct a church building. This year’s 76th anniversary event included a running/walking race, concert, barbecue lunch, country auction, and 1,000 tasty pies for sale, ktvz.com reported. The best-remembered Lord’s Acre Day no doubt was in 1959, when John F. Kennedy and his wife, Jackie, were on hand.

Owen D. Olbricht, a teacher, evangelist, and author, died Nov. 2 of complications from COVID-19 pneumonia. He was 90.
The Missouri native graduated from Harding University in Searcy, Ark. Olbricht led evangelistic efforts in 8 countries and 30 states. He preached in Arkansas, Missouri, and New Jersey, according to an article in the Christian Chronicle. He also authored books with biblical analysis, including Truth for Today’s commentaries on Colossians and Philemon.
