BBC Introduces New Logo (Plus Other News Briefs)

Boise Bible College introduced a new logo in recent weeks. President Derek Voorhees explained the evolution of BBC logos in a Facebook video.

Mid-Atlantic Christian University, Elizabeth City, N.C., will celebrate its 75th anniversary March 23-25 with its MACU Rally and Homecoming. The theme is “MACU—Past, Present, and Future.” An online registration form lists all of that weekend’s events. President John W. Maurice shared a Facebook post about the event late last week.

The International Conference On Missions has posted hotel information for its annual gathering slated for Nov. 15 to 18 in Oklahoma City. Booking a room through a contracted hotel is especially beneficial to ICOM. The theme this year is “Hope for the Nations.”

Central Christian College of the Bible will host the SOLID Men’s Conference on March 23 at its campus in Moberly, Mo., and on March 25 at its location in St. Louis, Mo. Dr. Orpheus Heyward, minister with the Renaissance Church of Christ in Atlanta, will lead a workshop and serve as main speaker both dates. Heyward will seek to challenge and inspire men to live a life of purpose and integrity. Common Grounds Unity will host a webinar titled “Peacemakers: Conflict Resolution” from 3 to 4:30 p.m. EST Saturday. Cost is $10. The webinar will help participants better understand conflict styles, resolving conflict, transformation in toxic cultures, and the heart of a peacemaker. Cohosts Drew Baker and Tina Bruner will lead a discussion with Dr. Joe “Joey” Cope, who served 33 years with Abilene Christian University, and Stephen Staten of Bridging International. Kissimmee Christian Church hosted the Florida State Ministers Luncheon on Feb. 11. The event featured guest speaker Bob Russell. Around 100 ministers attended the time of fellowship and encouragement.

David Nelson, who serves as men’s pastor with Real Life Ministries Texas, will serve as speaker for Maritime Christian College’s K.T. The Eleanore L. Campbell Ladies Luncheon at Milligan University in Tennessee will feature award-winning singer and author Nicole C. Mullen. The event is set for 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 25 in the university’s McCormick Dining Center (located in Sutton Hall). The luncheon is an event for women of all ages to be spiritually fed and recharged through biblical teaching and fellowship with other women throughout the region. Swimmers and runners from Milligan University won titles at their recent Appalachian Athletic Conference championship meets. 

Milligan’s men’s and women’s swim teams both won AAC championships for the second-straight season (the first school ever to accomplish that feat). Overall, the Buffs won 31 of 36 contested championships over the three-day meet at the Kingsport (Tenn.) Aquatic Center, which concluded Feb. 11. They also set 13 AAC Championship meet records. 

“Absolutely fantastic way to begin our championship season,” said head coach Spencer Scarth. “Countless amazing swims.” 

The Milligan University men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams both won AAC team championships at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Feb. 17. 

The Milligan men repeated as champions while the women earned their second title in program history, previously winning in 2020. The Buffs claimed 10 AAC event men’s championships and 7 women’s titles.

The Ozark Christian University women’s basketball team defeated Barclay College, 98-57, Friday to win the Midwest Christian College Conference Championship. The Lady Ambassadors’ record improved to 21-3. The team plays again at 7 tonight vs. Randall University in the National Christian College Athletics Association Division II Southwest Region Tournament, in Moore, Okla.

The Living Lutheran website reported that the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) met Jan. 26-28 in Fullerton, Calif., to continue their bilateral dialogue. “The two church bodies . . . have a long-standing relationship and continue to work towards greater unity and cooperation in mission and ministry,” according to the article. Another meeting is planned this fall.
