Point U. Announces Record Enrollment for Fall Semester (Plus News Briefs)

by | 22 November, 2023 | 0 comments

Point University welcomed its largest incoming class in university history this fall. Across all its programs—undergraduate, graduate and dual-credit enrollment—the West Point, Ga., university’s enrollment now totals 2,817 students.

“We’re grateful to impact a growing number of students at Point University through a variety of modalities, [including] residential, online and dual-credit,” said Dr. Stacy Bartlett, chief of staff. “While many institutions are seeing a decline in enrollment, Point is growing.”

The university credits much of the increase in enrollment to its subscription program, which was launched in spring 2022. As part of the university’s goal to make college accessible to everyone, this program allows employers to partner with Point by paying an annual fee that allows their employees to take online college classes for free. (In July 2022, we reported on Point’s partnership with Chick-fil-A.)

“To be able to report record enrollment at a Christian University in 2023 is a testament that God is at work in and through Point University,” Rusty Hassell, chief enrollment officer, said via a news release.

News Briefs

Johnson University announced that generous donors have made it possible for the school to provide up to $10,000 scholarships this fall to every Ministry Leadership student with a concentration in Preaching and Church Leadership or Preaching and Student Ministry. The school’s intention is to provide these scholarships beyond 2024, based on the availability of endowed scholarship funds. This is a last dollar scholarship, which means it’s applied to the student’s account after state, federal, and institutional scholarships are applied.

“The Opening Year”: A Christian Standard Editorial from 1875

In his editorial for the start of 1875, Christian Standard’s founding editor, Isaac Errett, offered 5 suggestions to his readers that will enable them to “consecrate” themselves anew to Christ’s service in the forthcoming year. Though Errett’s suggestions are nearly 150 years old (originally published on January 2, 1875), we believe his comments are just as valuable today as they were when they were first published.
