Point University, West Point, GA, recently inaugurated its eighth president, Dr. Stacy A. Bartlett, at their convocation service for the start of the new academic year. The service was held at Spring Road Christian Church with alumni, students, faculty, staff, trustees, friends and community members assembled to celebrate Bartlett’s inauguration and the beginning of the new academic year.
Bartlett was installed by the chair of the board of trustees, André Kennebrew. “In accepting this call, you join a distinguished list of educators who, as president of this institution, have shaped its history, its character and its quality,” said Kennebrew. “The board places in your hands a University with nearly ninety years of history in educating students for Christ-centered service and leadership throughout the world, whose graduates are now making an impact for Christ across the globe.”
In her inaugural address, Bartlett spoke directly to the university’s students, saying “Ultimately, tonight shouldn’t really be about me or about those of us who are privileged to work here. It’s about our institution, and it’s about you. We would not be here without you.” She went on to tell students they “are about to embark on a grand adventure.” After introducing the university’s spiritual formation theme for the year, Formed, based on Ephesians 2:10, she said, “There is a reason for you being here, students. No matter where you find yourself, I want you to rest in knowing that you are God’s masterpiece, and he will do the work of forming you if you allow him.”
Bartlett, a native of metro Atlanta, is a 2005 graduate of Point University and has served the university since her graduation. Bartlett began her career at Point University as an admission counselor, going on to serve in a variety of roles, including director of admission, vice president of enrollment management, vice president of advancement, chief advancement and enrollment officer, and most recently as chief of staff.
A recording of the inaugural convocation ceremony is available on the Point University YouTube channel.
