Con Mis Manos โ Organization Profile
Con Mis Manos Deaf Ministry is a non-denominational Christian nonprofit serving Deaf people and their families in northeastern Mexico. The name means โWith My Hands,โ and the ministry focuses on education, evangelism, vocational training, and practical support for Deaf children, teens, and adults. Its vision is that Deaf people and their families will experience the truth of Godโs love and understand his gift of salvation.
Con Mis Manos is based in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, just across the border from Brownsville, Texas. Its U.S. mailing address is in Brownsville, and the ministry operates under the financial guidance of Workers for Mexico Mission. The ministry serves Deaf individuals and families in northeastern Mexico, especially in the Matamoros border region where public education, medical access, legal services, and community support for Deaf people may be limited.
The ministryโs work began in 2003 under the leadership of Workers for Mexico Mission. Con Mis Manos exists to address spiritual, educational, social, and practical needs among Deaf people who often face isolation, discrimination, and lack of communication within their families and communities. Its FAQ materials note that Matamoros has an estimated 1,800 to 2,000 Deaf individuals with limited public education or opportunities.
Con Mis Manos operates through several connected ministry areas. It provides Deaf-led church services, discipleship training, evangelistic outreach, Mexican Sign Language-based education, and vocational training. Its programs are designed for Deaf individuals of all ages, and the ministry states that it welcomes children, teens, and adults into its activities because every person has value, purpose, and the right to learn.
The ministry also provides support services for Deaf individuals and their families. These include a medical clinic, clothing pantry, food pantry, counseling, legal advocacy, and safe housing for those in need. Vocational training and practical workshops help Deaf adults develop skills for employment and community participation. Con Mis Manos also uses media outreach, including the short film project Te Estoy Hablando, to highlight the isolation experienced by Deaf children, teens, and adults and to encourage churches to serve alongside Deaf Christians.
People can engage with Con Mis Manos by praying, giving financially, sponsoring a student, sponsoring a teacher, following updates, contacting the ministry, or serving through visiting teams and work projects. The ministry is donation-based, receives no government aid from the United States or Mexico, and directs designated gifts to field ministry through Workers for Mexico Mission.
