ELIC โ Organization Profile
ELIC is a Christian educational mission organization that equips and sends teachers to serve overseas through English education. The organization focuses on helping committed Christians live with purpose overseas by teaching English, building relationships, and serving on teams in hard-to-access places. Its work connects professional classroom service with long-term relational presence among students, colleagues, neighbors, and local communities.
ELIC is based in Fort Collins, Colorado, with additional offices in Langley, British Columbia, Canada, and Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Its ministry serves across Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, China, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Laos, Mongolia, Morocco, Thailand, Tunisia, Tรผrkiye, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. ELIC began sending teachers to China in 1982 and now offers teaching opportunities in universities, Kโ12 schools, language centers, community centers, and teacher-training settings.
The organizationโs core focus is English education as a pathway for meaningful global service, cultural engagement, and relationship-building. ELIC works through partnerships with governments and educational institutions, placing teachers in settings where English instruction is needed and where teachers can serve with excellence, humility, and cultural sensitivity. Teachers may serve for a few weeks, nine months, or one year or longer.
ELICโs programs include short-term Engage opportunities, the Global Ambassador Program, and longer-term Legacy teaching placements. Engage provides team-based summer teaching opportunities for people serving two to eight weeks. The Global Ambassador Program is a nine-month mentorship and cross-cultural development program in locations such as Thailand, Tunisia, and Uzbekistan. Legacy is ELICโs one-year-or-longer teaching program for university campuses, Kโ12 schools, and language centers.
The organization also provides substantial support for teachers before, during, and after overseas service. ELICโs process includes inquiry, application, interview, preparation, pre-departure training, support development, team placement, and overseas member care. Services include orientation, health and safety assistance, visa and travel guidance, member care, insurance, financial advising, newsletter support, alumni care, and team-based field leadership.
People can engage with ELIC by applying to teach overseas, exploring short-term or long-term opportunities, joining the Global Ambassador Program, giving financially, inviting ELICโs president or team members to speak, reading Field Notes, connecting with alumni resources, or contacting the organization for more information. ELIC also offers career opportunities for people interested in North American office support and mobilization work.
