Emmaus Road International โ Organization Profile
Emmaus Road International (ERI) is a Christian missions education and resource ministry focused on helping churches, mission agencies, colleges, and mission teams serve well in cross-cultural ministry. The organization describes itself as a โcome alongsideโ ministry that provides resources to ignite, develop, and expand involvement in cross-cultural mission. Its work centers on mobilizing churches, training goers and senders, and networking churches and teams with ministries requesting help.
Emmaus Road International is based in San Diego, California, with ERI Resources connected through Boulder City, Nevada. Its resources and ministry relationships serve churches, agencies, colleges, missionaries, mission teams, and cross-cultural workers around the world. ERI was birthed on February 28, 1983, when Neal Pirolo and several ministry friends sensed a calling to continue missions education through an independent ministry serving many churches globally.
ERIโs core focus is missions preparation, missionary care, cross-cultural training, sending-team development, reentry support, and practical mission education. Rather than asking people to โjoinโ the organization, ERI provides books, seminars, media resources, and training tools that churches and ministries can use in their own contexts. This allows local congregations, sending churches, and mission organizations to better support missionaries before they go, while they are on the field, and when they return.
The ministry is widely associated with resources such as Serving as Senders Today, The Reentry Team, I Think God Wants Me to be a Missionary, Internationals Who Live Among Us, Prepare For Battle!, Partners in the Gospel, and Keeping in Touch. These materials address the practical and spiritual responsibilities of sending churches, missionary support teams, prayer partners, financial partners, communication partners, logistics helpers, and reentry caregivers.
ERI also offers seminars and training experiences. Seminar topics include Serving as Senders, Solutions to Culture Stress, Internationals Among Us, Whatโs the Big Deal? Theyโre Just Coming Home!, For Those Who Go, Prepare for Battle!, Steps to the Field, Eight Possible Next Steps, Personal Involvement in Cross-Cultural Ministry, and Nothing Good Just Happens. The ACTS training emphasis and related media resources help prepare believers for cross-cultural service with humility, cultural understanding, and long-term faithfulness.
People can engage with Emmaus Road International by using its books and digital resources, inviting a seminar presenter, accessing the free media library, translating ERI resources, supporting orphan or refugee sponsorship opportunities, participating in ministry trips, ordering resources through ERI Resources, praying for the ministry, or giving financially. Contact is available through both the San Diego ministry office and ERI Resources in Boulder City.
