OMF International

OMF International — Organization Profile

OMF International is a global Christian mission fellowship with a focus on sharing the good news of Jesus Christ among East Asia’s peoples. Founded in 1865 by Hudson Taylor as the China Inland Mission, OMF continues that missionary legacy through evangelism, church planting, discipleship, ministry partnerships, and service among people groups where Christian witness may be limited or developing.

The organization’s international office is based in Singapore, while OMF United States is based in Littleton, Colorado. OMF serves East Asia and East Asian people around the world, partnering with churches, local organizations, and mission agencies. Its public materials describe work among more than 100 East Asian people groups through 2,500-plus workers from more than 40 nations.

OMF’s mission is to share the good news of Jesus Christ in all its fullness with East Asia’s peoples to the glory of God. Its vision is to see indigenous biblical church movements in each people group of East Asia, with local believers evangelizing their own people and reaching out in mission to others. The organization works both where there are few churches and where existing churches can be strengthened and extended.

OMF’s ministry strategy includes long-term missionary service, short-term mission through Serve Asia, church ministry, student ministry, returnee ministry, healthcare, education and academia, business and professional service, creation care, mission research, and care for third-culture kids. Its approach emphasizes language and culture learning, partnership with local churches, and ministry that is appropriate to the communities being served.

The organization also provides pathways for U.S. churches and individuals to participate in mission. OMF United States offers long-term service opportunities, Serve Asia short-term placements, Global Neighbors ministry among East and Southeast Asian people groups in the United States, church missions consulting, prayer resources, missionary support, giving options, and internships or apprenticeships for those exploring cross-cultural service.

People can engage with OMF International by praying for mission work, supporting missionaries and projects, exploring short-term or long-term service, inviting speakers, using mission resources, giving financially, or partnering through a local church. Its distinct contribution is a long-standing, international mission fellowship focused on East Asia through church planting, discipleship, local partnership, and culturally engaged Gospel witness.
