Milligan Names Greer Next President

Bill Greer has been selected to serve as the next president of Milligan College in Tennessee.

Greer was appointed Milligan”s next president by the college”s board of trustees. He will assume leadership on July 15, following the retirement of current president Donald R. Jeanes. Greer, a 1985 Milligan College graduate, currently serves as the college”s vice president for institutional advancement. He will become the 15th president in the college”s 145-year history.

Greer has more than 25 years of experience as an academic and business leader, fund-raiser, community volunteer, and church elder. At Milligan, he is the J. Henry Kegley professor of economics and business and has served 12 years as a member of the college”s faculty, chairing the business area for several years. Greer led the college”s efforts to develop and establish a master of business administration.

Greer holds a PhD in economics from the University of Tennessee and an MBA from East Tennessee State University. He is also a member of the Messiah College (PA) International Business Institute faculty.

Prior to joining the Milligan faculty, Greer held accounting positions with Pet Dairy and Morrill Motors and was vice president of marketing at Silver Creek Technologies. He has a lifelong commitment to the Restoration Movement and has served as an elder at Grandview Christian Church, Johnson City, TN, since 1998. He has presented workshops at the North American Christian Convention and represented Milligan at the National Missionary Convention.

The native of Mountain City, TN, and his wife, Edwina, a 1984 Milligan graduate, currently live in Johnson City. Their two sons are both students at Milligan.

“I can”t think of anyone who is better suited to be Milligan”s next leader,” said Jeanes. “Bill has shown himself to be a man of faith, integrity, and proven professional leadership who cares deeply for this institution.”

Greer”s appointment concludes a five-month national search.
