HLC Warns It Might Pull Cincinnati Christian University’s Accreditation

Cincinnati Christian University’s accrediting organization, the Higher Learning Commission, has issued a “Show-Cause Order” giving CCU one year to “demonstrate why its accreditation should not be withdrawn.” During the one-year period, which began June 27, credits and degrees earned at CCU will be fully accredited by HLC, though the accrediting body, in its order, cautioned that “all colleges and universities define their own transfer and admission guidelines” and advised current students of CCU to “contact any institution they plan to attend in the future” to better understand their institutional policies. Alexander to Succeed Derry as President of Hope International University

When Dr. Paul H. Alexander assumes the presidency of Hope International University in August, he will become the first alumnus of the institution to serve in that role. Alexander has been selected to succeed Dr. John L. Derry as president by HIU’s board of trustees. Alexander will begin serving as the institution’s seventh president on Aug. 16, upon Derry’s retirement. Johnson University’s President Planning to Retire

Dr. Gary Weedman, president of Johnson University, has announced he will be retiring, effective June 30, 2018. During Weedman”s tenure as president, Johnson University experienced tremendous growth in enrollment, academic programs, and facilities. Next year will mark his 11th year as president, 18th year at Johnson, 50th year in Christian higher education, and his 75th birthday. “The words “˜thank you” hardly seem adequate for the 11 years Gary and Janis have faithfully served Johnson University, nor do the words “˜you”ve done a great job” convey sufficiently the praise they are due,” wrote L.D. New President Appointed at Dallas Christian College

The Board of Trustees of Dallas Christian College announced this week its appointment of Dr. Brian D. Smith as the college”s next president. Smith comes to DCC from Johnson University Florida, where he has served most recently as associate provost. Before that, he served as vice president of academics at Florida Christian College, where he had previously held the positions of associate dean of academics and institutional effectiveness, and registrar. The appointment follows a national search that began nearly one year ago after the resignation of President Dusty Rubeck. Smith will begin his tenure as president on Nov. 1. Smith

Tracy Appointed President of Cincinnati Christian

The Board of Trustees of Cincinnati Christian University in May announced the appointment of Ken Tracy as the institution”s eighth president. Tracy had been serving as interim president since February. He succeeds David Faust, who announced his resignation on Nov. 1, 2013, after 12 years of service. A 1988 graduate of CCU, Tracy has 27 years of financial and executive leadership experience and is currently president of TaleMed, a national healthcare provider. Tracy has remained involved at CCU as a volunteer on the President”s Advisory Board and by serving as the part-time men”s basketball coach. He is an ordained minister.

Milligan Names Greer Next President

Bill Greer has been selected to serve as the next president of Milligan College in Tennessee. Greer was appointed Milligan”s next president by the college”s board of trustees. He will assume leadership on July 15, following the retirement of current president Donald R. Jeanes. Greer, a 1985 Milligan College graduate, currently serves as the college”s vice president for institutional advancement. He will become the 15th president in the college”s 145-year history.
