For more than 35 years, Pioneer Bible Translators has offered opportunities for people from the Christian churches and churches of Christ to gain an in-depth understanding of taking God”s Word into new contexts through translation, church planting, and community development. The Pioneer Mission Institute began on the campus of Lincoln (IL) Christian College (now Lincoln Christian University) and is now held at the International Linguistics Center near Pioneer Bible”s main stateside office in Dallas, TX. This year”s weeklong event is scheduled June 9-14.

In addition to the discovery program that introduces people to the ministries of Pioneer Bible Translators, a new continuing education track helps recruits and current missionaries hone their skills, and the week even includes a missions education program for children from preschool to high school.

The institute also focuses on the support roles needed to make Bible translation successful, such as finance and desktop publishing. The staff teaches the sessions, and missionaries and translators from the field share their perspectives. The week combines structured chapel experiences and classes with informal mealtimes and opportunities to connect.

People of all ages participate in the annual event, including recent college graduates and the “success to significance” crowd pursuing meaningful second careers.

“This week is a great first step in pursuing how and where God may match your passion and gift mix with the Bible-less peoples of the world,” the ministry shares.
