The International Conference On Missions will take place in Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 3-5. To generate interest and awareness, ICOM representatives are embarking on a 21-city tour over the next two months. Mid-Atlantic Christian University has numerous activities planned for its Gospel Rally March 17-18 in Elizabeth City, N.C. In addition to alumni class gatherings and workshops, a groundbreaking for the new Heritage Hall will take place at 11 a.m. March 18, and floors of the new dining hall will be signed at noon that day. After a two-year delay caused by COVID-19, Christian Financial Resources finally was able to host nearly 400 folks in-person to celebrate their 40th anniversary on Feb. 27. Gail Boatman, widow of Don Earl Boatman (president of Ozark Bible College from 1952 to 1979), celebrated her 108th birthday on March 4, according to Victor Knowles. Gail lives at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin, Mo.

Registration is open for the 20th Global Gathering of the World Convention, slated for June 16-19, 2022, in Warsaw, Poland.

Meeting since 1930 (typically every four years), the World Convention is a gathering of Christians who have a common heritage in the Stone-Campbell tradition, which includes a cappella churches of Christ, the Christian churches/churches of Christ, and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). It is the only entity working to connect all streams of the Stone-Campbell Movement worldwide, and also the only one that gives our entire movement a seat at the table with other communions globally.

Mike Gillespie, longtime Christian minister and public address announcer for athletic events, was at it again Feb. 24-26 when he announced 14 games of the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference’s men’s and women’s basketball tournament in Kingsport, Tenn. Among the schools participating were Milligan University, Point University, and Kentucky Christian University. We featured Gillespie in an article last February.

NFL players, former coaches, Hall of Famers, and former U.S. attorneys general are urging the U.S. Supreme Court to rule that the Bremerton (Wash.) School District acted unlawfully when it fired football coach Joe Kennedy for taking a knee and quietly praying on the field after games, the Christian Post reported. Kennedy was removed as coach in 2015. In January, the Supreme Court agreed to hear the case.

Historic Canton, Ohio, Church to Open New Campus

After two years of strong growth, First Christian Church in Canton, Ohio, is expanding. The historic church—once led by P. H. Welshimer—hopes to open its first campus location this fall. The church in November spent $2.1 million on a 33,000-square-foot building on 5 acres on the southwest side of Canton. . . .
