Central Park Christian Church in Topeka, Kan., is planning a “Rooftop Revival” for 9 a.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Sunday to bring the community together and help raise funds for the church’s youth ministry.
Youth pastor Elijah White, connections pastor Jeff Martens, and church member John Cantrell will spend the weekend atop the church livestreaming and participating in various challenges. For example, currently there is a bid of $450 to cut off Cantrell and White’s hair. (The trio will be the only ones spending the weekend on the roof; community activities will take place in the church parking lot, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.)
The bulk of the $12,000 the church hopes to raise will be used to help send middle- and high-schoolers to a Christ In Youth event in Tennessee.
Activities will include water balloons, movies, and a community barbecue and worship.
“The largest part of this is bringing [in] the community,” White told the newspaper. “We want the neighbors . . . to come here and know this is a safe place.”

A celebration of life service for Nell Stacy, wife of longtime Christian minister and educator Bob Stacy, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at Spring Hill Church of Christ in Middletown, Ohio. Steve Reeves, Greg Marksberry, and Bob Stacy will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 2, at the church. Mrs. Stacy died May 8.
Mrs. Stacy, 89, was an accomplished pianist and vocalist. She spent 68 years at her husband’s side serving in churches and Bible colleges (Ozark Christian College, Cincinnati Bible College, and Central Christian College of the Bible), and in 1968 they founded Christ In Youth. The last 24 years were spent with the Spring Hill Church, where Bob Stacy was senior minister for 14 years and where he continues to serve as minister to seniors.
Mrs. Stacy was admired, respected, and loved by students, church members, and CIY colleagues. She was often referred to as “the perfect preacher’s wife” and was a friend to all with whom she came in contact.

Milligan University in Tennessee has formally launched its search to replace president Bill Greer, who will retire next summer. Board chair and Milligan alumnus Dick Phillips, a retired higher education administrator, is leading the presidential search committee, according to a news release.

Michael Hawkins has come on board as director of development with the International Conference On Missions. He will handle donor relations and sponsorships, among other responsibilities. Hawkins served 15 years in bivocational ministry.

Paul “Pat” Mooney, who retired in 2021 after 52 years of preaching in Christian churches (the final one being Downtown Christian Church in Johnson City, Tenn.), reports that over the next four weeks he will be preaching at three Methodist churches that have left the Methodist denomination. Mooney and his wife, Pam, are living in Knoxville, Tenn.
