Celtic Christian Mission will host their annual Celtic Christian Ireland Tour from June 21-29, 2024. Tour participants will have a wonderful opportunity to see and experience the beauty of Ireland. Dr. Michael DeFazio will begin serving as dean of the Graduate Studies Department at Ozark Christian College in January. He will also continue to serve as a professor of New Testament and hermeneutics. OCC academic dean Dr. Chad Ragsdale made the announcement. Ozark’s master’s program, now in its second year, has nearly 90 students enrolled.

Jim Hellard, a World War II veteran, was honored on his 98th birthday at Gardenside Christian Church in Lexington, Ky., on Sept. 17. At the conclusion of the service, he shook hands with everyone as they were leaving “until I thought it would fall off,” he told the Lexington Herald-Leader. Hellard was last featured in the newspaper in 1946 when he “came home from Europe with a Nazi dog.” He served in the U.S. Army’s Ninth Division and participated in the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of Remagen.

Connor Ward Quisenberry, 18, of Beaver Dam, Ky., a 2023 Ohio County High School graduate who intended to study youth ministry at Johnson University starting next spring, died along with his flight instructor on Sept. 27 when the small plane they were piloting encountered severe turbulence. Hartford Christian Church senior minister Scott Parker said Quisenberry was dedicated to his family, community, church, and his faith. “Connor loved his friends and would do anything for them,” Parker told the Evansville Courier and Press. “He loved the Lord and served so faithfully at Hartford Christian Church.” A year ago, Quisenberry earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Youth With a Mission founder Loren Cunningham, 88, died on Friday. Cunningham and YWAM “mobilized millions of young people for short-term trips,” according to a feature obituary at Christianity Today’s website. YWAM currently operates in more than 2,000 locations in nearly 200 nations.
