RENEW.org, College Press Partnering to Re-release Novel about Alexander Campbell

RENEW.org and College Press Publishing are collaborating on the re-release of The Fool of God, a novel that tells the story of Alexander Campbell, a key pioneer of the Restoration Movement, often called the Stone-Campbell Movement. The book is a factual retelling of Campbellā€™s life. It will be available at the International Conference On Missions in Oklahoma City, Nov. 16-18.

In a new Foreword to the book, first published in 1958, RENEW.org point-leader Bobby Harrington describes the impact the book had on him and his wife, beginning when they were in their mid-20s:

ā€œThe story of how Alexander Campbell engaged Scripture in such a raw, yet determined way captured our hearts and minds,ā€ Harrington wrote. ā€œWe were both won over to the core value the book taught us: surrendering to Jesusā€™ Lordship by personally trusting and following Scripture above all else.ā€

And then, about 10 years ago, Harrington shared the book with prospective leaders at the church they had planted. ā€œWhat I discovered was that the single most important tool in winning these future leaders over to the theological vision of our church is the book The Fool of God.ā€

The historically accurate book describes all the relevant factual events and details in Campbellā€™s life. The novelā€™s author, Louis Cochran, created the dialogue to fill in the unrecorded conversations and engage the readersā€™ imaginations.

In addition to being available at ICOM, the new College Press edition will soon be available at Amazon.
