A Not Too Old one-day conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 29 at Villa Heights Christian Church in Joplin, Mo. David Faust will present at the conference, designed to inspire people 55 and older to continue to walk with the Lord and each other as faithful servants of the Lord as they age. Two men were killed and 14 family members were injured, including 8 children, when a motorist struck them as they walked beside a road in Wacousta, Mich., May 18. Killed were Jonathan Esch and his brother-in-law, Daniel Harris. Jessica Harris, wife of Daniel Harris, was critically injured. Daniel Harris attended Great Lakes Christian College from 1999–2000; two of his brothers, Ash and Andrew, graduated from GLCC, according to the school’s Facebook page. The group was walking from a park to a family member’s home when the incident occurred. The driver fled the scene but was quickly arrested; she was charged with 11 felonies, a newspaper reported. The West Lansing Church of Christ is accepting donations to help the victims’ families.

Point University (West Point, Ga.) has named Jon Ernstberger as the school’s chief academic officer. Ernstberger has served at nearby LaGrange College since 2008–most recently, as associate vice president for academic affairs and professor of mathematics.

A key financial metric for Great Lakes Christian College improved dramatically this past year.
The U.S. Department of Education has informed GLCC that the institution’s Composite Financial Index (CFI) increased from 0.6 to 2.1 (on a scale of -1.0 to 3.0), reaching a level the DOE considers financially responsible. President Frank Weller called it “a massive one-year increase.” The improvement, he said, “happened because God is good, people are generous, and our team has worked incredibly hard.”
As the end of the current fiscal year approaches, GLCC is anticipating a second consecutive year with a modest budget surplus and continued improvement in its CFI, Weller said.

Rusty George, lead pastor with Crossroads Christian Church, Grand Prairie, Texas, has a new book, Friend of God: Letting Jesus Say Who You Really Are.
