Union Christian Church in Terre Haute, Indiana, is seeking a full-time Children’s Director to lead and develop a comprehensive ministry for children from birth through 5th grade. Reporting to the Senior Minister, this role is designed for a ministry leader who will help build young disciples for Christ, create a nurturing environment for spiritual growth, and partner with families and volunteers to cultivate a strong, Christ-centered children’s ministry.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Designing and leading Sunday morning children’s programming for birth–5th grade
- Recruiting, training, and supporting a healthy team of volunteers
- Partnering with parents by providing encouragement and discipleship resources for the home
- Organizing annual and seasonal ministry events such as camps, retreats, and fellowship opportunities
- Promoting ministry activities through social media, email, and the church website
- Managing the children’s ministry calendar, budget, safety practices, and administrative needs
- Building relationships with local schools and community organizations to extend the church’s outreach
Expectations and qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in children’s ministry, theology, education, or a related field preferred, or at least two years of relevant experience
- Strong biblical knowledge and theology rooted in the Restoration Movement
- Ability to communicate well with children, parents, staff, and the broader congregation
- Experience using modern communication tools and A/V resources
- A proven ability to recruit and lead volunteers effectively
- A life marked by Christian character, humility, integrity, and spiritual maturity
- Commitment to Union Christian Church’s mission, vision, and statement of faith
This full-time position typically includes office hours Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility for evening events and ministry needs.
