New Mexico Christian Children’s Home (NMCCH) in Portales, New Mexico, is seeking a full-time houseparent couple to invest in the lives of children through faithful, consistent, Christ-centered care. This role is designed for a husband-and-wife couple ready to provide a safe, loving, and Christian home environment while helping children grow into resilient, faithful, and confident young people.
Houseparents serve within a cottage setting and work alongside the professional and caring NMCCH staff team. The role includes meeting children’s daily needs, modeling Christian family living, and helping coordinate spiritual, educational, emotional, medical, recreational, and practical support.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Providing a safe, loving, and Christian home for children.
- Modeling Christian living with a positive, inviting, and non-judgmental attitude.
- Caring for children’s daily needs, including food, shelter, clothing, schedules, recreation, and transportation.
- Listening to children, coaching them through life challenges, and helping them build healthy habits and decision-making skills.
- Coordinating with the child care team to support each child’s emotional, educational, medical, and spiritual growth.
- Maintaining confidentiality and working responsibly within the cottage setting.
Expectations and qualifications include:
- A committed married couple willing to serve children in a residential ministry environment.
- Good character and a desire to live with and serve the needs of youth.
- Flexibility in daily routines and the ability to handle household responsibilities.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with children, adults, coworkers, and ministry staff.
- A valid driver’s license, successful background check, and willingness to meet NMCCH requirements.
