Lead Minister – Fairmount Christian Church

Fairmount Christian Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia, is seeking a Lead Minister to provide visionary leadership, biblical preaching, pastoral care, and overall ministry oversight. Working closely with the Elders and Senior Leadership Team, this senior-level leader will champion the church’s mission and values while guiding its continued spiritual growth and ministry effectiveness.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Championing and communicating the Elder-driven vision, mission, and strategic direction of the church.
• Preparing and delivering biblically grounded weekend sermons and overseeing sermon series development.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing the preaching team while providing coaching and feedback to other teachers.
• Partnering with the Senior Leadership Team to oversee ministry initiatives, organizational priorities, and ministry effectiveness.
• Serving on the Governing Board of Elders/Directors and leading the Senior Leadership Team.
• Providing pastoral care through counseling, hospital visits, weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other congregational needs.
• Supporting staff development, spiritual growth, and alignment with the church’s mission.
• Providing leadership for cohesive, meaningful Sunday worship experiences.
• Building relationships with community leaders, local pastors, and ministry partners.

Expectations and qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Eight to ten years of related ministry experience and/or training preferred.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in ministry leadership, preaching, communication, and team development.
• Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, empathy, and the ability to provide biblical counseling.
• Commitment to confidentiality, collaborative leadership, and responsible pastoral care.
• An active, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to ongoing spiritual and professional development.
• Agreement with Fairmount Christian Church’s Statement of Faith, Staff Lifestyle Agreement, and staff policies.
• Willingness to participate in church activities and become a member upon accepting the position.
