First Christian Church in Evansville, Indiana is beginning a national search for its next Lead Pastor as part of a succession plan that has been in place since 2021. The church has a long history in the community, serving Evansville for 158 years, and is preparing for transition after the longtime ministry of Jerry Clark, who served first as Youth Minister and then as Lead Pastor for more than three decades. The church is looking for a biblically qualified leader who will build on the strong foundation already in place, align with the church’s vision, mission, values, and statements of faith, and help amplify and multiply existing ministries.
Primary responsibilities and expectations include:
- Serving as the next Lead Pastor for First Christian Church through a healthy succession process.
- Building on the ministry foundation already established at the church.
- Adding to the current leadership team in a way that strengthens and multiplies FCC’s ministries.
- Preaching and communicating God’s Word in a dynamic way that helps people know and love Scripture.
- Challenging not-yet believers and new believers to take steps of faith while helping the whole church grow closer to Jesus in practical ways.
- Being willing to move to Evansville, make it home, and genuinely invest in the surrounding community.
- Working through a transition that, if possible, will include a season of overlap with the current Lead Pastor for a healthy handoff.

- Demonstrating the character, calling, educational background, experience, and skills needed to lead FCC.
