Mountain Mission School — Organization Profile
Mountain Mission School is a privately funded Christ-centered charity that serves as a home, church, and school for children with significant needs. Founded in 1921 in Grundy, Virginia, the school grew from the vision of Sam Hurley, who wanted to provide a safe place for children facing hardship. Its long-running work combines residential care, Christian formation, and classroom education in one campus community.
The school is based in Grundy, Virginia, in Appalachian Southwest Virginia, and it serves children and students from the United States and multiple countries around the world. Mountain Mission School describes its work in terms of “rescuing kids, raising leaders, and reaching nations.” Its student community includes children who have experienced poverty, homelessness, family instability, or other difficult circumstances, along with some local students who attend the school.
Mountain Mission School operates with a broad, whole-child approach. Its campus is designed to provide a nurturing home environment, quality education, and spiritual guidance. The school’s educational program serves students from kindergarten through high school, while its residential life program has also been described as serving children “from diapers to diplomas.” This structure allows students to receive daily care, academic instruction, meals, housing, mentoring, and Christian community in one setting.
Academically, Mountain Mission School’s K–12 education program has held joint accreditation through the Association of Christian Schools International and Cognia. The school’s model is not limited to classroom learning; it also includes athletics, music, student activities, and campus life. Its stated focus is on meeting emotional, physical, and spiritual needs while helping students grow in character, responsibility, and leadership.
Mountain Mission School’s work depends heavily on charitable support rather than a conventional tuition-based model. Individuals, churches, alumni, and partner organizations can engage by giving, praying for students and staff, sharing the school’s work with others, volunteering where appropriate, or helping provide practical support for student needs. Prospective families and referring adults can also contact the school directly to learn more about admissions and student placement.
For churches and supporters, Mountain Mission School represents a long-established Christian education and child-care ministry rooted in Appalachia but connected to a wider national and international student body. Its distinctiveness is the integration of residential care, school, and church life for children who need stability, education, and Christian guidance.

Mulberry International — Organization Profile
Mulberry International is a U.S.-based Christian nonprofit focused on humanitarian aid and gospel-centered ministry in Ukraine. Founded in 1997, the organization works primarily among vulnerable populations affected by poverty, displacement, and war. Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, Mulberry International operates through partnerships with local churches and ministry leaders to meet both physical and spiritual needs.
The organization’s mission is to share the hope of Christ while alleviating suffering among Ukrainians by strengthening local Christian ministries and equipping churches to carry out the Great Commission. This dual emphasis on relief and discipleship shapes all of its work, especially in regions heavily impacted by conflict. Since the escalation of war in Ukraine, Mulberry has expanded its efforts to include internally displaced persons and refugees, responding to one of the largest humanitarian crises in Europe in recent history.
Mulberry International serves communities across Ukraine, particularly in eastern and southern regions such as Donetsk and other front-line areas, where infrastructure and access to basic necessities have been severely disrupted. The organization operates through a network of regional ministry centers and trusted local partners, allowing it to deliver aid efficiently while maintaining a strong relational presence. Their approach prioritizes long-term impact by empowering Ukrainian believers to lead and sustain ministry efforts within their own communities.
The ministry’s work includes humanitarian aid distribution, evacuation assistance, children’s care, and church-based outreach initiatives. Teams provide food, clean water, clothing, firewood, and medical supplies to those in crisis. In addition, Mulberry has been involved in evacuating civilians from dangerous areas and helping rebuild homes damaged by war. A longstanding focus of the organization is caring for orphans and at-risk children, including support for children’s homes and family-based care environments.
A defining distinctive of Mulberry International is its commitment to integrating practical aid with spiritual encouragement, often working through local churches to share the gospel alongside relief efforts. This model not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters community restoration and discipleship. By building the capacity of indigenous ministry partners, Mulberry seeks to create sustainable, locally led expressions of Christian service and outreach.
Individuals and churches can engage with Mulberry International in several ways, including financial support, prayer partnerships, and ministry collaboration. The organization invites supporters to participate in its mission by contributing resources, advocating for those affected by the war, and partnering in efforts to bring both relief and the message of Christ to those in need.

One of the foundation’s core areas is education support for children and development of local schools. The ministry states that it supports and sponsors children’s education, and it points to sponsored students who have graduated from the program. Mustard Seed Network — Organization Profile
Mustard Seed Network is a Christian church-planting organization with the mission “to glorify God by making disciples through planting gospel-centered churches in Japan.” The network focuses on gospel proclamation, disciple-making, leadership development, and the formation of local churches in major Japanese cities. Its work began when a team of church planters moved to Japan in 2007, and the first church was planted in Nagoya in December 2009.
The ministry has a U.S. mailing office in Oronogo, Missouri, while its church-planting work is centered in urban Japan. Mustard Seed Network serves Japanese cities including Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto, Tokyo, Sendai, Hiroshima, Yokohama, Sapporo, Saitama, Fukuoka, and Chiba. The organization identifies Japan as a major mission field because of the country’s low percentage of Christians and the need for gospel-centered churches and trained Christian leaders.
Mustard Seed Network operates as a network of church-planting churches in Japan. Its model includes recruiting and training church planters, catalyzing new church plants, and supporting existing church planters and church plants. The network emphasizes biblical teaching, expository preaching, discipleship, evangelism, church leadership, and culturally engaged ministry in urban settings.
The organization’s churches describe themselves as gospel-centered, disciples-making-disciples, and diverse. While many worshipers are Japanese, Mustard Seed Network notes that its churches include people from multiple countries. Its churches seek to proclaim the person and work of Jesus, equip believers for discipleship, gather in Christian community, baptize believers, and establish healthy local congregations.
Mustard Seed Network’s Kingdom Campaign expands this strategy by focusing on church multiplication, leadership development, church revitalization, and ministry training. The campaign describes a goal of helping establish additional churches and supporting ministry training in Japan. The network also maintains specific city pages for church plants, giving donors and prayer partners information about local church-planting teams.
People can engage with Mustard Seed Network by praying for Japan, giving to the general church-planting fund, supporting church planters, learning about ministry preparation, sharing the organization’s work, or connecting through its contact page. Its distinct contribution is long-term, cross-cultural church planting focused on making disciples and establishing gospel-centered churches in Japan’s cities.

New International — Organization Profile
New International (also known as New Mission Systems International, or NMSI) is a Christian mission sending agency that exists to proclaim Christ and make disciples globally. The organization is headquartered at the Center for Global Outreach in Fort Myers, Florida, and serves missionaries, churches, and ministry partners through pathways designed to help people respond to God’s calling with practical preparation and ongoing support.
New International describes its work through a holistic vision that includes people of all nations worshiping God, experiencing ongoing life transformation, fulfilling their God-given purpose, and fostering the emergence of Jesus-following communities. As a sending agency, New International’s core function is to help individuals, couples, and families move from discernment to deployment—connecting them with ministry opportunities and providing structure for spiritual care, accountability, and logistics.
A key distinctive is the range of service options New International offers. Those pathways include Career Missions for long-term missionary service, Apprenticeships (listed as 6–36 months), Venture Internships (including summer internships), Short-Term Projects that churches and teams can join, and Volunteer roles that support the mission’s work. This “multiple on-ramps” model allows prospective workers and sending churches to choose a commitment level that fits their season while still connecting to longer-term ministry outcomes.
New International also provides practical support for giving and partnership. Donors can contribute to the general fund or designate gifts toward specific missionaries, projects, internships, events, ministries, and other giving areas listed on the organization’s site. The organization hosts giving tools and “other ways to give” options, and it encourages supporters to engage beyond finances through prayer and advocacy for global disciple-making.
Leadership and governance are publicly listed. The board of directors is chaired by Larry Boden and includes officers and members from multiple states, reflecting the organization’s commitment to policy-based oversight and accountability.

Whether someone is exploring a first short-term trip or pursuing a long-term assignment, New International positions itself as a sending partner that helps workers and churches take informed steps toward gospel-centered ministry.

New Life International — Organization Profile
New Life International, also known as NLI, is a Christian nonprofit ministry focused on bringing safe water and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people in need through practical technology and ministry partnerships. Since 1998, the organization has used water purification systems and related innovations as tools for physical care, evangelism, and community service.
The ministry is based in Underwood, Indiana, and serves communities in more than 80 countries worldwide. Its work is especially directed toward places where unsafe water affects children, families, schools, orphanages, medical clinics, hospitals, prisons, villages, and remote communities. New Life International works with missionaries, pastors, church leaders, volunteers, and partner organizations who identify needs and help deploy solutions.
New Life International’s core solution is a patented water purification system that uses table salt, water, and a 12-volt battery to produce disinfectants that make unsafe water safe for drinking. The organization states that one purifier can serve up to 1,000 people in a community and that its systems can be used in schools, orphanages, medical clinics, and homes. Missionaries, pastors, and church leaders may come to the Underwood campus for a free one-day training on placement and installation.
The ministry has also expanded beyond its original purifier. Its Innovation Center develops additional technologies connected to water treatment, automated purification, wound care, and disinfectants. New Life International describes these tools as part of a wider effort to improve physical and spiritual well-being while supporting Gospel access in communities that may not otherwise have reliable resources.
New Life International’s wound care and disinfectant work uses its purification technology to produce hypochlorous acid for communities with limited access to sterile bandages, safe water, and medical clinics. The ministry also provides manuals in multiple languages and offers training resources for water purification system use and maintenance. These tools support practical deployment in varied field settings.
People can engage with New Life International by donating, volunteering, praying, learning about church partnership, requesting information, or helping assemble and support water purification systems. Volunteer opportunities listed by the ministry include assembling portions of the NLI Water Purification Systems, inventory, grounds maintenance, and ambassador roles. Its distinct contribution is combining water technology, innovation, training, and Gospel partnership to serve communities with both safe water and Christian witness.

NEXT Manga, also presented online as NEXTmanga, is a Christian media ministry that produces and distributes biblically based manga designed to communicate the story of God’s redemption through Japanese comic art. Its public materials describe the organization as “media for the next generation,” with a focus on making the Bible’s message accessible to manga readers through printed books, booklets, translations, and publishing partnerships.
NEXT Manga is connected with Seattle, Washington, as its listed home base, while its production is identified with Japan. Its work reaches readers and ministry partners in multiple countries and language communities through translations and distribution projects. The organization lists NEXT manga books in languages including Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, Khmer, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, and more.
The ministry’s central publishing work is a six-book manga series that covers the Bible’s storyline from Genesis to Revelation. The books are Manga MUTINY, Manga MELECH, Manga MESSENGERS, Manga MESSIAH, Manga METAMORPHOSIS, and Manga MAJESTY. Together, these volumes present biblical narratives in a visual format intended for readers who may be more comfortable with graphic storytelling than with traditional Bible reading formats.
NEXT Manga also offers shorter, lower-cost booklet resources for ministry use. Its booklets include The Messiah and Manga Mission, which are described as shorter versions connected to Manga MESSIAH. These materials are designed for distribution, work groups, classroom settings, group discussion, and ministry projects. The organization notes that Manga Mission can be customized internally for ministry purposes when large projects require many copies.
Translation and publishing partnerships are a major part of NEXT Manga’s strategy. The organization works with partners including Bible societies, mission organizations, and publishers to make the books available in different languages and regions. Its website invites readers and ministry workers to ask about available translations and to request help finding specific language editions.
People can engage with NEXT Manga by ordering books or booklets, asking about translations, donating to support distribution, subscribing for updates, contacting the organization about ministry needs, or partnering in large-scale distribution projects. Its distinct contribution is using Japanese manga as a Bible-engagement and outreach tool for younger readers, classrooms, ministry groups, and global language communities.

North Burma Christian Mission, also known as NBCM, is a Christian mission organization with roots reaching back to 1921. Its current public materials describe the ministry as a mission movement serving Southeast Asia through evangelism, discipleship, church planting, Bible training, literature, media, music, youth homes, community development, and deaf ministry. The organization’s stated vision is that millions in Asia would be eternally influenced for Christ through multiple outreach ministries.
The mission has a U.S. home-office mailing contact in Ponca City, Oklahoma, while its field work is centered in Thailand and broader Southeast Asia. The ministry’s history began with J. Russell and Gertrude Morse serving in Tibet and China, continued into Burma in the early 1950s, and later relocated to Thailand in 1972. Today, NBCM describes its work as extending across multiple countries, languages, and people groups in Asia.
NBCM operates through a team of missionaries and national coworkers. Its evangelistic work includes partnering with committed national preachers to evangelize, disciple, and plant churches among tribal and local people groups. Leadership training is another core area, with Bible training courses and Bible schools serving church leaders and members across many ethnicities and languages.
The mission also supports Christian literature and media in minority languages. Its literature department in Thailand translates, designs, and prepares Bibles, hymnbooks, and other Christian materials for more than a dozen people groups. Its media and music ministries create sermons, dramas, testimonies, Christian programs, hymnbooks, music recordings, and videos that can be shared through social media and local distribution channels.
NBCM’s holistic work includes youth homes, community development, business as mission, and deaf ministry. Youth homes provide safe housing during the school year so tribal children can receive formal education while remaining connected to Christian values and their cultural identity. Development work includes agriculture, infrastructure, health and sanitation, water projects, education, church planting, and relief assistance. Deaf ministry has included churches started in Chiang Mai that are now led by local leaders.
People can engage with North Burma Christian Mission by praying for the work, subscribing to missionary newsletters, supporting individual missionaries, giving by check to the general mission fund, and learning about specific field ministries through the mission team pages. Its distinct contribution is long-term, multi-generational Christian mission work among tribal and local communities in Southeast Asia, combining Gospel proclamation with leadership training, local-language resources, and practical community care.

The ministry is based in West Monroe, Louisiana, and operates in partnership with White’s Ferry Road Church (WFR Church). The organization notes that it invests in local leaders through discipleship programs, church networks, schools, and radio broadcasting (including “World Radio”). In addition, One Kingdom facilitates short-term mission trips that aim to build relationships with ambassadors and ministry partners while helping participants better understand local contexts.
One Kingdom also highlights compassionate service as an expression of the Gospel, including disaster response and long-term recovery support. Current relief efforts on the organization’s site include responses to ice storms in the southern United States, hurricane-related relief in Jamaica and Cuba, and rebuilding efforts connected to hurricanes and flooding in Swannanoa, North Carolina. The organization also invites supporters to participate through giving, praying (including a guided prayer resource for global partners), connecting their church or group for presentations, and serving through mission trips and volunteer relief teams.

This strategy reflects the organization’s focus on locally rooted Christian witness that develops indigenous leaders and churches.
The organization’s ministries include long-term, mid-term, short-term, and internship opportunities, along with Embark, a 1- to 12-month cross-cultural mission experience primarily for college-aged young adults. Otem Collective — Organization Profile
Otem Collective is a Christian-informed nonprofit organization working to strengthen families and communities so vulnerable children can grow up in safe, stable families rather than residential care. The organization’s name comes from a Leblango word describing a village gathering place around a fire, symbolizing family, community, teaching, and belonging.
The organization is based in Orlando, Florida, and its program work is focused in Northern Uganda. Otem Collective’s vision is to see a generation of Ugandan children raised in families, breaking the cycle of family separation and poverty. Its public materials emphasize that poverty is a major driver of child-family separation in Uganda and that many children in residential care have living parents or relatives.
Otem Collective operates through family strengthening, care reform, local partnerships, and trauma-informed caregiver support. Its work is designed to address the root causes that lead families to place children in orphanages. Instead of focusing primarily on institutional care, the organization supports family-based solutions that help children remain with or return to family whenever safely possible.
The organization’s family-strengthening work includes parent support groups, savings groups, agriculture initiatives, and caregiver training. Otem Collective also provides technical support and coaching to orphanages as they move toward family-centered care. Its use of Trust-Based Relational Intervention®, or TBRI®, reflects a focus on helping caregivers respond to children affected by trauma, neglect, or separation with practical, attachment-based tools.
Partnership is central to Otem Collective’s model. The organization states that sustainable change is best carried out through local leadership and grassroots organizations that understand the culture, national systems, and needs of the communities they serve. Its partners have included AMACOD in Uganda, and its strategy includes working with parents, caregivers, community leaders, orphanage leaders, and local organizations.
People can engage with Otem Collective by giving, serving as volunteers, joining the prayer team, subscribing for updates, supporting monthly or one-time gifts, and sharing its work with churches or communities interested in family-based care. Its distinct contribution is reshaping orphan and vulnerable-child care by placing families at the center of the solution in Northern Uganda.
