CMF International — Organization Profile
CMF International (also known as Christian Missionary Fellowship International, CMF Missions) is a global missions organization that works to create dynamic, Christ-centered communities that transform the world. For more than 75 years, CMF has helped send and support missionaries serving across cultures and communities, partnering with local Christians and churches to pursue long-term, reproducible ministry.
CMF’s home office is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, and its teams serve across 26 countries and regions worldwide. Current ministry locations span places such as Kenya, Ethiopia, India, Thailand, Spain, Australia, and Ukraine, along with broader regions including West Africa and the Middle East/North Africa. This geographic breadth reflects CMF’s emphasis on collaborative, on-the-ground teams that plan and carry out ministry alongside national leaders and local congregations.
A key distinctive of CMF is its focus on four interrelated ministry strategies. First, CMF supports church-planting efforts that aim to develop disciples and leaders who can multiply new faith communities—often through mentoring and leadership training. In multiple contexts, CMF has helped establish leadership training centers that strengthen Bible knowledge and practical ministry skills so that local leaders can guide churches toward maturity and reproduction.
Second, CMF’s Marketplace Ministries place working professionals in roles and settings where traditional mission access can be limited. These teams pursue holistic ministry and development through education, business, and community engagement—sometimes helping disciple and train local entrepreneurs toward “Kingdom businesses” that contribute to spiritual and economic transformation. Third, through Globalscope, CMF welcomes university students into community on international campuses where Christian ministries may be difficult to find. Globalscope emphasizes open, relational community where students can ask hard questions while experiencing Christian hospitality and witness.
Fourth, CMF’s holistic poverty-focused ministries address practical needs while integrating gospel-centered discipleship. CMF describes work such as education and community sponsorship (including support like education, nutrition, and medical care where possible), microfinance and Village Savings and Loans, Community Health Evangelism (CHE), medical ministry, and water projects that expand access to safe water and support community resilience.
CMF also describes itself as a “full-service” missions organization, providing support before, during, and after intercultural service. This includes assessment for field fit, training and coaching for support-raising, help with documentation such as visas and permits, financial accounting services, and member care that can include counseling and crisis support. People interested in serving can explore multiple pathways—from REACH (an 8-week intercultural internship) and an Exchange Semester, to the EQUIP Experience (a 10-month program in England) and long-term service. Others can engage by praying, partnering as a sending church, or giving to specific people and projects or broader needs.
