Smith Appreciative of Johnson U’s Efforts to Save Florida Christian College

Brian D. Smith is grieving the announcement that Johnson University Florida will close next summer, but he appreciates that Johnson University answered the call from Florida Christian College in that school's desperate hour of need in December 2012. Final Approval of SLCC/CCCB Merger Expected Soon

Officials from St. Louis Christian College and Central Christian College of the Bible anticipate the two schools will officially merge in the coming days. When completed, SLCC’s campus will be sold, some residential students and 7 SLCC employees will relocate to CCCB’s campus in Moberly, Mo., and property will be leased in the St. Louis area where classes will continue to be offered.

Cincinnati Christian University Started with a Merger

Cincinnati Bible Institute started on Oct. 1, 1923, and McGarvey Bible College in Louisville, Ky., opened a day later. In less than a year, the two colleges merged, as reported in the March 22, 1924, issue of Christian Standard. The institution’s new name became Cincinnati Bible Seminary. “The new seminary,” the editor wrote, “will embody all the virtues of each of the merging institutions, and, as each was the complement of the other, it will become one of the most ideal schools of learning that the cause of restoration of primitive Christianity has ever produced.” Many will agree those words

Milligan, Emmanuel Merge

On July 1, Milligan College President Dr. Bill Greer announced the merger of Emmanuel Christian Seminary into Milligan. Since the summer of 2012, the college has worked with Emmanuel to help the seminary overcome significant financial issues and prepare for its eventual integration into Milligan. On Monday, July 29, Point University (West Point, GA) and Montreat College (Montreat, NC) announced the two institutions are pursuing a merger. According to a statement at www.pointmontreat.com, “Earlier this year, in a fortuitous meeting, representatives of Point University and Montreat College began discussions about ways the two schools could work together to improve on their current delivery of quality, Christian higher education.
