Churches Honor Those with Special Needs on ‘Night to Shine’

About 25 Christian churches and churches of Christ were among the more than 700 serving as virtual experience host churches for “Night to Shine,” an event for people with special needs. On Friday at a “Shine-Thru” celebration hosted by The Crossing in Las Vegas, guests were greeted in-person by Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, whose foundation sponsors “Night to Shine.” “The secret is out!” The Crossing wrote on its Facebook page. “All of our guests are being welcomed by Tim Tebow himself! Compiled by Jim Nieman and Chris Moon A team of 45 volunteers from Real Life Christian Church in Clermont, Fla., created more than 3,000 custom-made masks for local public high school seniors to wear during their graduation ceremonies. The masks were fitted with the students’ school colors and mascots. They were delivered to Lake County Schools Superintendent Diane Kornegay. “I’m extremely grateful for the support of this community,” Kornegay told the Daily Commercial. “They have rallied to make masks for all of our seniors. The megachurch marked the 15th anniversary of its launch in 2005 in Brighton, Mich., by launching three new campuses in Livonia, Monroe, and Taylor, Mich. 2|42—which is consistently listed as one of the fastest-growing churches in America by Outreach magazine—now has seven campuses. The campus in Livonia came about in a unique way, as we reported last summer. NACC Attendance Exceeds 6,000 (Plus News Briefs)

North American Christian Convention managing director Larry Collins provided various statistics about the recent gathering in Indianapolis June 26-28. “The NACC 2018 was a wonderful event and combined the best of all the programming tweaks that have been made over the last five years,” Collins said. Total attendance for the event was 6,032. Of that total, 4,826 people registered and an estimated 1,206 people—or about 25 percent—did not register.
