Taylor Frankly, I can”t imagine why everyone isn”t talking about the strategy outlined by Bobby Harrington and Alex Absalom in their book Discipleship That Fits,Â and I don”t understand why more churches aren”t trying to implement it. Maybe I”m just out of the loop. I”m not a megachurch pastor. I have no role on a church staff of any size. Maybe more congregations than I know have tapped into the genius of implementing something more nuanced than the large group/small group approach promoted by so many. It seems certain to me the book”s analysis deserves a close look.

Bad Sermons, Big Vision

Just after we occupied our new building, with a huge debt, and just before a Sunday service, Norm said, “This church is just two bad sermons away from disaster!” That was the worst. The best came from the same man a few years later when we were celebrating our 10th anniversary. NH Church Celebrates 50th with Stadium Service

Manchester (NH) Christian Church celebrated its 50th anniversary on Sunday with a special service at the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, home to the area”s minor league baseball team. “Preaching from home plate under blue skies, senior pastor Bo Chancey said the evangelical Christian church has become a home, family and source of hope to its members,” says a local news article. “We have a mission to change New England, to turn ordinary people into extraordinary followers of Jesus,” Chancey said. By Mark Atteberry Recently, my wife, Marilyn, and I went to a Tampa Bay Buccaneers” game. Shortly after we settled into our seats, four young men filed in and sat in front of us. Before the game started, one of the men turned around and struck up a conversation. He told us he was really excited because he”d never seen an NFL game in person. He still hasn”t. We marveled at how he got caught up in everything except the game. He must have gone to buy food and beer a dozen times, which, of course, led to several more
