(Today we republish a Christmas Day meditation that was part of a monthlong series of meditations by Becky Ahlberg we ran back in December 2015. We hope you enjoy it. Merry Christmas!)

December 25
Itโs Christmas Dayโa day defined by giving. But oh how quickly (for many) it has become the season of โgetting.โ Today as you open gifts and celebrate with your family traditions and one another, here are a few Scriptures to remind you of who gave first, and how very much:
โFor God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal lifeโ (John 3:16).
โYet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of Godโ (John 1:12).
โThe life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for meโ (Galatians 2:20).
โWalk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to Godโ (Ephesians 5:2).
โPraise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the deadโ (1 Peter 1:3).
May you find the joy of giving today, too.
