Sheltering Wings

Sheltering Wings — Organization Profile

Sheltering Wings is an international Christian mission-sending agency that partners with churches to send missionaries who take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world in word and deed. The organization equips and supports missionaries for cross-cultural service, helping them move from local church calling into long-term field ministry.

The ministry is based in Leasburg, Missouri, and supports missionaries and ministry projects serving in West Africa, Mexico, the Middle East, India, the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation, and other global contexts. Sheltering Wings works alongside sending churches, missionary families, national pastors, and ministry partners so Gospel proclamation is connected with practical care and sustainable field support.

Sheltering Wings describes its role as more than simply sending workers. It helps missionaries and their churches navigate the complexities of moving and ministering cross-culturally, provides ongoing missionary care, and supports the transition from everyday life to the mission field. Its public ministry description emphasizes recruiting, training, sending, caring for, and encouraging missionaries as they develop their God-given gifts for Great Commission service.

The organization’s ministry projects include child and widow sponsorship, missionary care, clean water, medical clinic support, school funds, church planting, national pastor support, unreached people evangelism, crisis and food assistance, women’s ministry, children’s homes, leprosy outreach, Bible school support, and community development. These projects show the organization’s focus on holistic mission work that combines evangelism, discipleship, relief, development, and care for vulnerable people.

Sheltering Wings’ history includes substantial work in West Africa, where ministry efforts grew from an orphanage into a broader network that included a primary and secondary school, clinic, child sponsorship, and widow sponsorship. Current public project listings also include ministries such as Oasis of Hope, House of Samuel Children’s Home, Ruth’s Widows Basket, national pastor equipping, girls training, clean water projects, and missionary family support.

People can engage with Sheltering Wings by praying, giving to the Core Ministry Fund, supporting specific missionaries or projects, sponsoring a child or widow, exploring short-term or long-term mission service, joining the newsletter, or contacting the organization about next steps in missionary service. Its distinct contribution is church-partnered missionary sending that combines Gospel proclamation, cross-cultural support, missionary care, sponsorship, and practical relief and development work around the world.
