Registration is open for the 20th annual Stone-Campbell Journal Conference, slated for April 16-17. Due to uncertainties related to COVID-19, the event recently was switched to virtual for the second consecutive year. Lincoln Christian University, which was to have hosted, will provide technical staff to facilitate the online-only event.
The theme “Violence of God in the Old Testament” will be developed by featured speakers Eric Seibert, professor of Old Testament at Messiah University, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Michelle Knight, assistant professor of Old Testament and Semitic languages at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Ill.; and Mark Hamilton, Onstead Professor of Biblical Studies at Abilene (Texas) Christian University.
Last year saw registrants from countries that included Brazil, Chile, Ghana, India, Russia, and others. The board has decided that full-time missionaries living abroad may attend this year’s conference for free, though registration is required.

James Wright, 43, senior pastor of Osage Hills Christian Church in Tulsa, Okla., died Feb. 9 of COVID-19. Wright leaves his wife, Robyn, and five children. He had served in ministry for 21 years.
“He loved to talk about Scripture, was the loudest to sing during worship, and always said that there was nothing else he could imagine doing other than full-time ministry,” according to his obituary. “He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs and was always willing to have a cup of strong coffee with you.”
He graduated from Manhattan Christian College in 2001 and earned a master’s degree from Johnson University in 2020.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for 4 p.m. March 6 at OHCC.

The Missouri Christian Convention, a virtual conference this year, is slated for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 13. Main-session speakers will be Brian Jennings and Victor Knowles, and workshops are planned throughout the day. Rick Greenwood, a longtime leader with the Christian Church of New Cumberland (W.Va.), recently was presented with the God and Service Award from the Boy Scouts of America. It is the highest religious award given to adults in scouting. Greenwood has been active in scouting for 56 years and a scoutmaster for 42 years, according to an article in the Review.
